is it just me or is there many people on here that dont understand diets?

I just look in the mirror and adjust my diet from there....the mirror doesn't lie..LOL

I mean I know my protein/carbs/fat ratio is just a matter of fine tuning what I'm doing to get the results I want

ok, when u saw this it sounded a little hard.
i dont mean to be disrespectful.

i just read this thread that Nelson wrote about eating food and growing more than if u were on aas.....something like that, good thread. but it seemed that many people dont know that much to make up a good lean bulking diet.

and even in other threads ive read ive gotten the impression that people just eat things that are healthy and sometimes junk food but sometimes the eat more or less than that the need....that they just eat but dont have that much of a clue what a proper diet is.

in the diet forum, people post up what the eat, ok, maybe a tablespoon there, 3 medium potatoes there, but its better to keep exactly everything right so u know that ure doing right.
and maybe 50 cals over/under the need isnt going to do much in day or two but in a long while....and in cutting diets...why waste time?

me, i make sure i always stay over 500 cals a day over my need. i dont think u need more than that.
i work as a warehouse worker so i up the cals a bit, maybe 8-900 cals. and on very hard and intensive days when suppersetting legs and back or shit like that add few extra 2-300 cals. but count out the ratios.

everything wroted down, proteins, carbs and fats.
i weigh everything i eat, and have it wroted down, so i KNOW what im doing wrong if im getting too chubby or gaining more fat that muscle.

if that doesnt work for me i change ratios on the proteins or the carbs or the fat.

ive even heard that some say that offseason cycle or not, u must eat to u feel sick.....that u must eat everything.

now, ive never taking aas before. in a few weeks ill start my first.

i know that since ure gaining muscle u must also upp the cals, mybe 200-300 a week or every 1,5 week,

but not overeating.

I agree with what you're saying and I do the samething, everyday; I count everything that goes into my mouth. If I need to change my pro/carb or fat, I know what to do and don't have to guess.
I also agree with Desmond to some degree that there probably is a bit of "bodybuilding ego" to brag how much one can eat"

People tell me to increase my protein to an enourmous amount in order to gain muscles when I know that will eventually affect my kidneys at some point. If I need to add protein I can go 25-50g more, not 100g more.

The school of thought about protein CAUSING kidney problems is changing. Most health professionals and medical researchers are finding that diets high in protein are only harming those who have reduced function of the kidney to begin with.

It is changing! But I don't do anything blindly; I've been to my endocronologyst and my protein was coming in WAY TOO HIGH, so as an intelligent person, I know to lower it at a degree I'm confortable with, rather then being stubburn b/c 100g more of protein is going to give me more muscles.
No, I never had kidney problems..

Like a lot of you I have been around gyms for a long time in one way or another and hence exposed to either body building, power lifting or just athletes in general. One thing I know for certain after all this is the same thing does not work for all. There are guidelines we can use when preparing our diets based on macros for each component and this is always a good way to start out but we can and we are very different metabolically speaking. Each individual needs to understand this and make adjustments on how their body reacts to altering not only how much we eat but how we break up the fats, carbs and proteins in what we eat.

From a physiological standpoint we also differ and I have seen guys eat enormous amounts of food and grow tremondously and others who eat the same way and just get fat even when training with close to if not identical routines. You can see training partners in fact have exactly the same diets and grow at vastly different rates while on identical cycles and diets. I have witnessed this as I am sure others have too. On the other end of the spectrum some guys need only eat small amounts and seem to blow up like weeds.

I guess in summary the point I am trying to make here is not to get too fixated on any one diet and experiment a little to see what best suits you as an individual. I think this is one reason why we see such glaring differences in diets as some that work for one group may need to be entirley different for another.
