If you had to cut your training time in half which is better...

To lower the exercises for a particular muscle group or lower the sets for on exercises. Inotherwords lets say shoulders for example. If you normally do 4 different exercises of three sets, would it be better to cut down the exercises or cut down the sets per excerise?
 
Well, what are your goals? If you're trying to keep your strength up, then it doesn't matter if you cut down on exercises or sets, just keep the intensity up.

In general, you should cut down on the sets per exercise, because the muscle is pretty much fully stimulated after one set anyways, two sets per exercise should be fine.
 
If/when time is a issue (or lack thereof), I concentrate on compound movements.

In this case (shoulders), I would perform a clean/press with a 5x5 protocol. Or just perform push presses from the rack.

But, as Bulldog said: goals, objectives. What are you trying to accomplish?

If that's the case, dropping the volume could hurt you. I'd drop a set off of each exercise, because like I said, the muscle is fully stimulated after one set...try using compound movements so you can work more than one muscle at a time. And vary it up so you hit everything.
