If you drink Gatorade during a workout...

Daveyboy, that's exactly what I do, using Gatorade for my PWO carbs. Just asking opinions on this topic, since it was a post not too long ago that Gatorade during training keeps your glycogen at better levels, and helps strength/recovery throughout training. And my question was to those who did this and how they like to use it and success, if any with it.

hmmmmm, both opinions so far are valid (almost-why liver tabs during a workout?, please explain that). however i will choose a medium between the two. drop all carbs from diet except from 10-15 minutes preworkout, start sipping on the gatorade and sip it till the end of the workout. the carbs are meant to give you just enough sugar to train. then when that wokout is over stop. you dont need it anymore. you have sugar to train and possibly even a nice little insulin spike at the end if you drink a little past the workout. then immediately take in your whey. 1 hour post get your whole food meal in, no carbs necessary if your are cutting hard.
Don't drop carbs. Low carb are only good for a person getting ready to do a show? Are you? Are you insulin resistant? Have you tried a good clean diet with lots of complex carbs moderate protein and some good ole efa's. If not, give that a shot first. All you poor people jumping right into this keto stuff, it's just not good. I wonder how many of you have run a good baseline diet for any length of time? You can get ripped with plenty of carbs, and it's much healthier, physically and mentally. Let's get bb back to being a healthy fun and safe endeavor.
Peace

I am not talking about a low carb diet at all, I am talking about a more natural low processed carb diet. A diet high in natural grains, fiber, minerals, not a plastic bottle full of sugar and food coloring.

amen brother.
people leave the gatorade alone unless your a marathon runner. You should have plenty of glycagon to do an intense hour of working out stored in your muscles already.

I completely agree with you Leanonme, about the balanced diet. But, after a GLYCOGEN DEPLETING workout, such as intense, heavy weightlifting, I use gatorade to replace that glycogen, because it is convenient to me. It is also the only simple sugar source in my diet. I do appreciate you and everyone else's input though, hopefully I'm not coming off as a dick. :)

Not at all. If it works for you then by all means continue with it.
However, to order some dextrose would
a: do a better job
b: be much cheaper
c: make you politically correct on the elitefitness boards

I've only found it online so far. If anyone knows a store you can get it at let us know.

I can get dextrose, was actually gonna pick some up a week ago, but got sidetracked at the store. I will def give it a try next time around.

he said he was cutting didnt he, thats what my response was based upon. you are simply preaching your blanket reccomendation. and you are not answering his question...but for the record i agree with you whole heartedly, and lastly you couldnt fuck with my diet! sorry, i get testy when people try to talk down to me. for example "All you poor people jumping right into this keto stuff, it's just not good. I wonder how many of you have run a good baseline diet for any length of time?" so please go learn some manners....peace

Thanks Billy Boob, my thoughts exactly! I was about to fire back after that reply, but I calmed down. My diet is on point, I am no rookie to running diets down to the cals and grams needed for my goals, I was asking a specific question, hoping to get a pretty specific answer, that is all. PEACE
