Well guys and gals,
I'm making a comeback as some of you might know. I severely injured my back in 1996 and have slowly made my way out of therapy and back into the gym. I have been a HITter for a long time and have been very conscious of form and intensity along the way.
Today was the day to re-invent the training wheel so to speak. I have not included squats in my workouts since July of '96...the week before I hurt my back at work. Today, at the persuasion of the doctor I went back into it. Now I'm 5'11" and weighed in at 246.75 this afternoon fully clothed. I started out with a measly 95 pounds to let my body get used to the motion and form again. After 15 easy reps of nearly ATF squats I upped the ante to 135. 12 easy reps came out and I was on fire. I donned the weight belt and went for broke as I hammered out 225 for 10 and then for 8. Afterwards I completed the rest of my normal leg day HIT routine.
I truly believe and practice the philosophy of High Intensity low reps and little rest between sets. When I was done I could hardly walk up the two flights of stairs to the locker room. I haven't had this good of a workout in years. When I weighed myself I was floored that I had dropped in 35 minutes to 243.24. I knew I was sweating but that is nearly double the weight I loose normally.
It was after the shower that it really hit me. The hot water quit right after I got all soapy and had to rinse in very cold water. When I was drying off I could feel it coming, but the intensity of the workout took its toll as I ran for a toilet. I'm a HITter and I'm proud to say that I am back to the good old days of vomit inducing workouts.
Won't it be fun to try and run on schedule tomorrow?
