Do you drink Diet Soda? Does it knock you out of Ketosis?

I quit drinking soft drinks. I would like to be able to drink diet soda but if its going to be as bad for me as high-fructose corn syrup based products I'll just stick with water and milk. What do you guys think?

well it's not going to refill liver glycogen as would "high fructose corn syrup", but the citric acid and some other sweeteners have reportedly kicked some out of keto. Personally, no it does not kick me out.

Diet Dr Pepper has no citric acid. It doesnt knock me out. I only drank like maybe 1 every few days though, because I just got used to dringking water and sometimes coffee.

Usually the diet soda has the preservative which really give a fake signal on your keto strip (ketosix); however, the only way to really know is to test your blood - as BI mentioned - w/ a glucometer.

Otherwise, you should look at the carbonation factor in the soda which is usually the factor in decreased protein sythesis and lower digestion.

Diet Rite is also better they say because it is sweetened with splenda. I can drink diet and still lose. I know some people can't.

That is the best way to find out if it knocks you out of ketosis. Some people can drink a 2 liter bottle and stay in ketosis, while it knocks others out of it. I seem to do just fine. However, I'm one of those lucky few who can eat 80 or 90 grams of carbs during a day and stay in ketosis.

Mr. X, btw I tried a modified version of your MKD for awhile.... it works quite well. I was loosin 2 ibs a week, but actually gained a little strength. Dangerous if you don't know exactally what you are doing, but quite effective.
