I'm thinking about doing crossfit to get ready for some extreme military training but I don't want to get small and I still want to lift. I was thinking maybe doing crossfit paired with like strength training mainly barbell moments squat bench deadlift press. any ideas. I wish I could do bodybuilding and crossfit but idk howd that work seeing how after i lift im spent. I can't workout 2x a day I don't have the time. any suggestions?
I went through a little crossfit phase for a couple months and it was ok but my heart desires that blood filling pump in my muscles. and I wanted to do a show maybe next year so idk am I aiming to do to much? thanks in advance

I used to crossfit and I'll tell you if you want strength and size powerlifting is the way to go. Don't get me wrong Crossfit is great, it implements powerlifting, and I know some strong Crossfitters. Maybe what you could do is just come up with your own crossfit workouts so you can design it to where you're working the muscle groups you want. Or you could do something like do weight lifting 3 days a week and crossfit 2 days a week.

What I was thinking though is maybe on some days you can try to throw heavy lifting into a crossfit style workout but gear it to one muscle group so you don't have to worry about working your entire body and not being able to lift a certain muscle group later that week.

Like go in and do say, for example, AMRAP in 15 mins back squats x12 deadlift x 12 box jump x 30. That'd be like leg day in a crossfit style workout. If you're doing 15 mins nonstop of that it will smoke you , but since crossfit workouts generally last under 30 mins you could do the crossfit workout, take a quick break, and then focus on lifting for the other half workout.

Hah, that's all I could come up with. Crossfit's great training for military and law enforcement stuff man.

Yeah I've been thinking a lot about it and if I can figure out my own crossfits and try and gear it towards specific body parts I'd prob be able to lift on a schedule better. realistically I think doing 3sessions a week is enough to get me a solid endurance boost along with running. I might try out something like (crossfit football). I was thinking maybe something like this. legs- squats 5x5 for strength
crossfit AMRAP 20min
250 meter row
Wall balls 20lber
10-15min recovery
leg ext
Leg curl
Calve raises

95% of the people who talk shit about Crossfit have never actually done it. There are variations that are more strength oriented. Try CrossFit Football | Strength & Conditioning for The Power Athlete and Strongmanwod.com | Strongman Workouts Posted Daily.

Here are a couple of my regular Crossfit squat workouts:

Warmup ( 5-min bike or rower)
agility stuff to limber up

-------------

225 squat x 5 reps Every Minute On the Minute(EMOM) x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
275 squat x 4 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
315 squat x 3 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
365 squat x 2 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
405 squat x 1 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Scale as needed.

It's not the weight that makes it hard. You're doing 25 sets of squat in 25 minutes.
==========
Squats warmup then
315x10
225x20
135x30
airsquat x 40
135x30
225x20
315x10 (add 405x1 beginning/end if you can)

This is meant to be unbroken (only rest is time it takes to change plates) but do as little rest as you can.

Honestly i have nothing bad to say about x fit. Its just i dont enjoy it. All it is , is p90x muscle confusion on steroids. Really thats all it is. It endurance mixed with power lifting techniques and some running. Save that for the youngins. I will stick to my old fashioned dungeon workouts and still look stout at 38. Nothing against xfit.

Bro if your going to an extreme military school, ranger, sf, seal, recon, etc than endurance and strength is what you need not size. Size will only hurt you when your rucking 20+miles or doing bodyweight exercises for hours. Work on getting leaner while increasing strength and endurance. Those extra lbs of muscle will kill you when going for hours on in.
