What's so great about fruit?

I was just thinking, other than a few grams of fiber, fruit isn't really that great. Sure it has vitamins, but if you take a good multi-vitamin you're set anyway.

My question is, if I'm bulking and I'm looking for a carb source for a snack (to go along with some protein), am I better off grabbing an apple or a more complex carb (like this Quaker oat bran cold cereal I just got)
 
Phytochemicals and probably other nutriennts that haven't been identified. They also generally come in their own package and it tastes yummy.
 
As javaguru noted, (a) the complex matrix of nutrients and phytochemicals, combined with (b) a super delicious taste, make fruit more attractive than a plain old vitamin pill.

I wouldn't neglect oatbran in favor of fruit, but I wouldn't run screaming out of the fruit aisle at the grocery store either. It's all about moderation I'd say. I mean, going overboard with the fruit can be a bad thing too (depending on your goals).
 
Without fruit, your not very likely to have a healthy colon in the long run.

As long as it's in moderation, it's not going to throw your BF levels out the window.

My brother in law could easily do the cover of Men's Health, and the guy eats fruit and veggies like crazy. So considering he's well below 10% and eats a lot of fruit, I'd say your worries were unfounded (he's 36 years old).
 
keeps you regular in a natural way. great source of vitamins. and tastes great. find anything else that does all that and tastes as good as fruit and ill love you long time.

True
But 1 piece of fruit can hardly be considered "too much" fructose
