types of breads

Can they be found in all supermarkets?

It is really tough to find a "good" bread in most supermarkets. :) Make sure the first ingredients do not begin with "enriched" or similar. Bread manufacturer's by law are allowed to proclaim whole grain or whole wheat on the label if something like 20% (the true number escapes me right now, but it is not very large) of the entire batch of the flour used is whole grain. And remember, this batch of flour does not make just one loaf!

The sprouted grain breads are only found in health food stores, they will be in the frozen food section.

I've found a brand made from sprouted grains at Safeway; the exact name escapes me right now, and I'm at work. I think it's Healthy Harvest, or a variation of.

Ezekiel? It's frozen and made from sprouted grains. It's great and it's the only bread I eat.

in my opinion, breads, in general, aren't that great, even if you're bulking.

aside from it being a processed food and full of carbs, 1 slice of bread is roughly 100 calories, and doesn't fill you up very well. when bread is a staple in your diet, you tend to snack on it, as well, since there are so many slices in a loaf.

I usually find that people who eat bread will eat about 4 slices a day, 2 being on a sandwhich and the other 2 being snacks. That's 400 calories...

Now, if you have say a 3,000 calorie diet, you are more or less making BREAD one of your 6 meals... there are much better options out there.
Great post. K to you.
