Hi,

I was wondering if you could list some breads that are good for bodybuilders. For example I eat 100 % stone ground wheat bread but I was wondering if other types like rye, oatbran, multigrain etc.. could be ok too?

if anyone could lits a few good options it woud be great.

Thanks a lot

in my opinion, breads, in general, aren't that great, even if you're bulking.

aside from it being a processed food and full of carbs, 1 slice of bread is roughly 100 calories, and doesn't fill you up very well. when bread is a staple in your diet, you tend to snack on it, as well, since there are so many slices in a loaf.

I usually find that people who eat bread will eat about 4 slices a day, 2 being on a sandwhich and the other 2 being snacks. That's 400 calories...

Now, if you have say a 3,000 calorie diet, you are more or less making BREAD one of your 6 meals... there are much better options out there.

you can find lite whole grain bread that is about 45 calories per slice and 10 carbs per slice..not sure how processed that stuff is, though. Def a lot thinner then regular bread but it works for me occasionaly..

I make eggs every morning. I make one piece of toast with no butter. I use either whole grain, wheat, or oatmeal which is made with wheat flower.

If dieting, sprouted grain type breads are excellent.

Is this the Ezekiel Brand breads? It's organic sprouted wheat, barely, lentils combination. I've seen it at the supermarket I might have to give it a try.

Yeah, they are in the frozen food section. There are 3 or 5 different types.

Sprouted grains are good for a number of reasons, the main one being it is a "live food". Sprouted a grains' germ will convert a good portion of the seeds' starch into simpler sugars that the yeast can actually use. This process naturally helps sweeten the bread. But the key is it make the grains nutrients more available.

i grind my own wheat berrys into flour and make whole wheat bread
and a slice or two and you really feel it i am full for hours
and even most of those whole wheat breads have preservitives
this way i know everything that thats in it
