Looks like I'm staying local this yr.... Whateva.

I did however get into the gym tonite (OMG!) I gotta get on loading my stuff into fitday because I KNOW i'm short on cals these days. Work gets going & I forget to eat. I'm also using Dietex again and its definitely making my appetite a non-issue.

VERY impressive lifts, Sassy. :D You're like the queen to me. :) I need to steal some of those lifts, that's for sure. Some of my numbers are comparable and i totally hear you on the shoulder popping thing. :worried: I haven't had problems lately, but it scares the shit out of me when I do!

Hun, you are so young yet, don't even sweat it. You learn where are your stick points, etc but also be aware of things like falling into bad form because you want to push up to the next weight - then before you know it you have tendonitis for life and stuff like that. And just for a preachy moment - also remember that you were cycling and that will make a big diff too so always pay attention to what is going on in your body and what you are currently fueling for and keep that as your focus. It can screw you up if your mind is thinking in terms of one phase of your progress and your body is in another. 3 months ago I was incline pressing 55 lb -- now I'm back at 35-40.... rather humbling.

29 Dec 2006 - Fri

*Note: Men still suck.

Since I had today off I scheduled a deep tissue massage at 1 pm so had to hit the gym prior to that. Also got to do a full run w/ the new AF Store RED Blast. Took it w/ my other supps w/ breakfast at 9. Definitely felt it hit about 50 min later -I'd probably recommend 30 min before the gym then. Noticeable buzz and started sweating. Once I started trainign didnt' specifically notice it feel like I was all cracked out.

Diet:
----------
Meal 1: 9 am
1/2 c oatmeal
1 whole egg + 1 egg white
1 scoop ON protein mix

Meal 2: 12:30
Pria Carb Select (had to run off to the chiropractor straight from the gym)

Meal 3: 3:30 pm
4 oz chicken
2 c broccoli / snow peas salad
1/2 c wild rice

Meal 4: tbd

Meal 5: tbd

Training: legs
-------------
* RED Blast note - this is interesting - I really was NOT feeling like doing legs and was goign to hit back & bis instead. By the time I got thru 2 of my 5 min cardio warmup I was ready to hit legs. Thinking some props to RED ... ;) Has sort of that "Hey this ain't so bad!! realization aspect to it like Cardio Breeze does...

warmup: 5 min elliptical
Super:
- walking lunges: (regular) 20/20, (lunge + back kick): 20/20, (double lunge): 20/20
- hyperextension: body/20 x 3
Super:
- squat (not ATF -- knees hate me): bar/20 bar+10/12 bar+20/12 bae+30/12
- step ups: 20 x 3
SLDL: bar/20 bar+25/5 + 20 lb DBs/7 x 2 - switched out to the DBs for a stretch at the end
Super:
- leg press: 4x45/12 (close stance) x 3
- calf raise: 4x45/25 x 3
leg ext: 100/12 100/12 100/12+ alt: 25/5 x 3 (burn out set) x 2
leg curl: 50/10 x 3 -- these kill the backs of my knees (see chiropractor discussion below)
10 min stretching

OK so after this I go off to the massage therapist. No particular reason, nothing hurts but my shoulders were a little squirrely yesterday, so just went. O.M.G. She found sore spots all over my back and said the rhomboids were jumping all over the place and the right shoulder was higher than the left... So yep... scheduled a meeting w/ the chiro after the massage. Results:

Back / shoulders all freaked out again:
- Supraspinatus on the right side hates me - I'll be scheduling an MRI after the new yr. to see if there's any issues in my rotator.

Knees - these make it almost scary to do even a sissy squat (unweighted) ATF. And also incredible pain on the BACKS of my knees when doing lying leg curls.
- outer fibular head wasn't in the right place. This is the source of the pains I've had over the summer directly under my knee in the front on both knees randomly as well as the feeling like a calf cramp but at the TOP of the calf, again randomly on both legs, and also the couple times my knees have gotten locked up & can't bend them. I'll be visiting the chiro a couple times / month for the next few months and see if it stabilizes, otherwise off to locate an orthopedic guy.

LOL and I'm supposed to ice my shoulders & knees after all the poking they did today :)

But after the gym & chiro, I got in a tannign session and picked up some cal / mag supps to see if that will make a difference in the calf & foot cramps I've been gettign as well. I can't imagine because I take a boatload of supps in general and I've never experienced crampign like this before so I am curious if its related to the knee thing.

And men still suck.

-------------------
warm up - 5 min elliptical
close grip underhand lat pull downs (wide lat grip hurts..) - 85/15 100 /12 x 2

Super:

- hi cable bis: 15/10 x 3 --- last set... LOL of course I pulled my right lat again....

Cardio: 15 min elliptical --- knee starting to hurt so called it a day.

Interesting note for the day - some people looking at my house this morning were from Ft. Lauderdale. The guy owns a nutrition store in W. Ft. Lauderdale & works a lot w/ the NPC in FL and we knew several people from the industry down there.

Took tonite off - shoulder needed some mega icing. I also set up an MRI appt w/ the guy I was recommended - except it won't be until 2/7/07. Ugh. LOL!

Posing! I see you did mine for me , thanks :)
:rose: Stinks about MRI.. the waiting... Feb will come soon enough

I guess its not that bad - I set aside cashola for it in my flex spending account and the guy is supposed to be the best shoulder guy in the area. I'm dying to find out what's going on in there tho so I can figure out what my 'future' is as far as lifting. Be nice to be able get at least one set of joints to stop hurting.

The posing thing - I listen to the same heavy metal & trance music all the time on my iPod & I have been listening to the same stuff for the last 10 yrs because it "moves" me. So in between my sets my mind goes to "stage" and I start doign little transitions. And then realize people are looking at me funny, so I go find an empty aerobics room and work on some stuff. SUcks a little bit that I will probably never actually do a posing routine on stage again, but it sure is fun :)

And this was also my motivation to get some new music in my life via XM Radio - tomorrow I gotta see if I can actually receive anything inside my gym. I need some new music bad tho.... Broadening my horizons....

I think that would be cute to see LOL. My son asked me for a whole bunch of music to put on his Mp3 player, and I didn't even know who the bands were. I listened to metallica this morning LOL.

Good luck with the joints.

As far as music, I like anything w/ a heavy baseline, anything that is live music, but the stuff that moves me is heavy metal, 80s hair bands (obviously the power ballads), some speed metal and all sorts of house / techno / trance. I listened to techno all night but I'm not sure if XM plays quite the stuff I like - I prefer a little more psychadelic trance than the lighter house / techno they seem to play.

Then I tried the 80s / hair metal bands -- ah! it was awesome! Brought back so many memories. And yes I was making up routines my kitchen while making meals for tomorrow. Seriously - "Paradise City"! Metallica anything! Even "Sister Christian" and Tesla.

Now I'm on the speed metal station --- most of this crap I've never heard in my life and I don't think I could pull off a posing routine unless I was a 217 lb, 3% bf tatted up bald guy on stage at the Nationals. But its fun!

I hope I can figure out how to set up the antenna for the car kit.... I have GOT to get off my AM conservative talk radio kick.

did you get an inno? I have one, and it doesn't usually work indoors. I just pre-record all night while it sits on the charger and have hours music for the gym.

the only place I found that it worked inside was at the Orleans. ? have no idea why.

That's it. I wanted somethign smaller than that new Sirius Stiletto -- seemed to bulky to be able to use in the gym. I have the little 1 GB iPod shuffle and I play the same stuff over & over & over ad nauseum. If I'm hooked up to the base w/ the extendo antennae fiddled around to where it receives, it does pretty good. At least in my house so far. I'm surprised because even my cell phone tends to dump calls as soon as I come inside the house and then it gets even flakier at night. But so far so good. It gets very picky if I try walking around w/ it in the house.

Good idea on just recording music tonite. Damn. If I get 8 straight hrs of acid metal I can see a day of destruction in the gym tomorrow nite.... And that's where I'm probably going to have to schedule another appt w/ my chiro to push my back into place again after that. Dammit I want to be able to KILL THAT SHIT w/o killing my shit.... :(

Yes you will see me at the Arnold! Flight booked! See who drinks who under the table?

3 Jan 2007 - Wed

Well, today I suck. I thought I was gonna have a kick ass workout w/ my 10 hrs of recorded mega acid metal and leg day. Instead, foot cramps, both knees f'd up, lower back sore & rotator fucked. I left early.

Not sure its even worth recording anything today. I will be making an appt w/ my chiro to work on my knees and maybe get another deep tissue on Sat for my back / shoulder. Dammit. No fair.

Well... based on yesterday, my workout today included scheduling a physical w/ a new GP and a full overhaul w/ the MT & chiro tomorrow. YAY!

I have the older one already. I really wanted something that would give me exposure to some new music. The radio in ATL sucks moose balls and I'm turning into a raving Republican listening to so much conservative AM talk radio. It pisses me off to pay $0.99 for stuff on iTunes and if I have to go look for the music - I dont' get exposed to anything new so I woudlnt' know what to look for to buy anyway.

And I want access to better music / listening stuff when I drive the long hauls to the parents' southern condo and when stuck in traffic. And in my house too. I still have to get a decent set of speakers that the XM radio can tap into so I can listen w/o the headset.

LOL its complicated but I mostly wanted some new material.

Details...?

Because everything hurt yesterday, I did nothing (last nite) but got on the phone and scheduled several appts w/ various health care professionals to make it stop hurting so I can figure out *something* I can do....

I suspect I'm going to be degraded down to cardio + pilates or something heinous like that.

OK quick update from yesterday at the chiro - supposed to come in once / week to get my knees 'adjusted' -- the right side, outisde part of the knee - that little muscle or tendon that attaches to the fibular head is very specifically the sore spot. ITs agonizign when it is pressed on. So I will be calling the MRI people on Monday to see if I can get the knee thing done as well in the same appt as my shoulder to see what is torn, what isn't, and then work out a rehab or training routine for them.

As far as the shoulder, even tho the right side is the sore one, they both hurt and I had specifically told them I wanted a deep tissue workover and the chiro said she would tell the LMT specifically to do my shoulders. Well... after being bored and very unsatisfied w/ the lameo massage I went home and spent 20 min tryign to shower off that godawful shit she used as the massage cream. It itched so bad I thought I was going to rip my skin off. Fuk. That whole $50 was a bust.

Anyway. No training today either. I'm going to try to keep myself to cardio & pilates.

Today - spent laying in bed w/ a screaming headache. More male-related frustration but that's pretty much been let go.

Plan to get up tomorrow for AM cardio.

And have to get to work early and let the fun begin again. I have to fly to Denver on Wed so I'm hoping like hell the fun weather settles down there too.... I don't own any snow boots & I don't want to have to buy them.

:) I like uneventful flights. MOst of the sinus issues are gone. Also hope they don't return on the flight. I've been loading echinecea since I got over the last round of illness.

LOL just to keep this thread from disappearing to the 2nd page...

-- got an initial meeting w/ a knee guy for evaluation of my right knee - required prelim to an MRI if needed, scheduled for Monday

This is cool because based on that I'll have a plan of attack cardio-wise.

This week - complete bust training-wise becaues of work & travel to Denver. Diet is pretty good though I had 2 rum & diet cokes tonite at the conference happy hr - helps when I have to schmooze w/ industry people for business cards.

Bad side tho - very retarded diet today - 1/2 my usual pancake breakfast, starved to the point of headach & near carb crash at lunch, good lunch tho I mixed a whole wheat roll w/ some cheese chunks.. Then 1/2 protein bar until the happy hr, shoveled down the other half and then off to a rodeo here in Denver. No food there as we burned all our cash for the $50 seats. Then the goofy group decides to go to some country bar - mind you the snow has started again - the first of a potential 6-8 inches. We ended up commandeering a Holiday Inn hotel shuttle to go to the bar, for nearly 14 people + the nice old couple who were actually going to the Holiday Inn. Then I had to bum $20 off some guy to pay cover for the bar. Headed straight back to where the ATM was so I could get some cash & pay the guy back. Except the ATM is broken. Ended up buying another rum & diet coke + $40 on my credit card so I'd have some cash for the ride home. Someone finally had the forethought to call a cab prior to leaving the bar - so nice easy ride home.

Just chugged a protein bar & some almonds because I have no other food & have to get up early to get to the airport back to the ATL.

Snow sux.

Oh the funny part for the nite- I ended up buying a set of 3 colored glass elephants for my mom at one of the little vendor booths at the rodeo. Of all the places to buy glass knickknacks... go figure.

I have been there. I distinctly remember having "bull fries" at the stockshow. :D mmmmmmm.

I used to own a western store - they have a big woopty doo at the convention center the same time the rodeo runs for buyers. I went every year for 7 years. good times...

I've lived near Denver my whole life and have still never been to the stockshow. Maybe I should dust of the stetson and go.

Initially it was related to sucking up to one of our big customers who were represented by this lady who had just joined the company - so we wanted to get on her good side early and she was just beyond excited about this rodeo - which my industry's association was sponsoring as well - so we all pile into cabs & go. Turns out WE have to buy our own tickets & cash only. That ate up all my cash except $6.

And then the group wants to go to this country bar. I gotta go too cuz I can't afford a cab back to the hotel.

Anyway that's how I got sucked along the whole night.

I owe Scots a drink ---> see you at the Arnold!

I think you would have had way more fun with Scots! LOL...
Now a ta ta ta question...
What the hell happens when sizing down? Strech marks? and what about skin?
Those it look and stay lose? Or is it just age??? There is no way I will evet have the firmness of a 20 year old again right???BOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You mean like from weight loss? In the boobs? If in the boobs, that can end up being a need for a lift --- biggest problem for first time competitors is the loss of a lot of bodyfat, usually most of your boobs. Just depends.

If you are talking like around your waist, that is part just continuing diet & training because there are pockets of fat in the skin that keep it from being paper thin like you see for competitors. Otherwise, just time. I suppose the ol' Yohimburn is part of the arsenal too.

Nah Boobs are ok...
I do see a bit of a sag right below @ss..where it meets with hammies...I have no idea if it's fat or if it's lose skin..not enough muscle to fill it in..

LMAO! Brazilian Butt Lift! A friend of mine described it once - a good friend of his got it done - sounded like the most painful thing on the planet. I'm thinking a few more deep squats and hyperextensions is better than that sort of surgery :worried: ...

Quick update - had the initial appt for my knee this morning. Turns out the knee doc is also a shoulder guy so I got both done at the same time. Diagnosis:

Knee: bursitis - potential torn meniscus
(some detail: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/meniscusinjuries1/a/meniscus.htm). Have an MRI scheduled for next week. If it is actually torn, then arthroscopic surgery may be the solution. In the meantime, got a ref for a physical therapist basically to learn better / which exercises I can do to not annoy it further.

Shoulder: tendonitis in the rotator.
Got a cortisone shot and prescribed 2 Aleve x 2 / day for the next 2 weeks. Also told to visit the PT for some better / supportive exercises that won't hose it up further. I go back in a month or so and see if an MRI is necessary. He thinks it probably isn't torn - that would most likely be due to a specific trauma incident / injury and (luckily!) haven't had that. So mostly like just an instability / tendonitis.

So in the near term, I can train light and do cardio. He suggested against things like lunges & deep squats due to the stress on the knee... Ugh. Guess I'll have to find a good sports-oriented physical therapist...

Hi Sassy,

Sorry to hear about your knee and shoulder problems. Here are a some links to some shoulder articles written by my trainer. Since I started training with him, my body has fewer aches and pains. Maybe there will be some information you can use.

Dayum you get to train w/ Eric Cressey? KEWLLLLL!

Also those posts look good -- I'll check them later today. I have to locate a PT off the list of people the doc gave me as well.

:wavey:
Hey there girl!!! Hadn't had a chance to catch up lately, but I did now! Hope you get those knee and shoulder issues all worked out, I have probs with my knee too so I kinda know how ya feel!

His a great trainer. I feel he is increasing my strength and keeping me from hurting myself. I tend to overtrain.

LOL all the enthusiasm huh? Yep its hard to contain it, but overtraining = under recovery and it is counter productive. (yea, I know, shut up ;) )

OK for the record - I've never had a cortisone shot before. It felt great for the first hour, but since then, I've had this soreness creeping down my arm so it feels like someone punched me in the bicep and its all the way down to my wrist now.

I guess its time to start popping the Aleve.

Hey J!
Thought about you all morning!
Played golf...so now get going...
cortisone OUCH! Hope you are good, real good...let's keep that fight against age...remember the fat army attack???!!!

The cortisone shot is not even an issue now :) Today I kept the health maintenance thing going w/ a regular ol' physical this morning. Everything was ok & just waiting on the bloodwork results.

Yay!

I think you will be inside the normal guidelines in blood work..I went to check everything out...and I hust came to the conclusion that after so many Km/ miles the damn machine is old...nothing like a new engine...but not possible in humans!
It's supposed to make you laugh!

:) I guess its just sort of like bringing your car in to get all the liquids checked. Make sure stuff still works to spec...

LMAO! I bought a remote control car to mess w/ my cat with. I tied one of his feather toys to it & have been chasing him around w/ it. He's still not sure about it...

Sorry about the workout

Talk about your daily updates...

Thanks to the workout on Wed, I'm back to the chiro & LMT tomorrow.

The MRI initially scheduled for Monday needs to be rescheduled w/ a dependence on getting some crap updated in my insurance.

Have a PT appt on Wed morning to learn how to not hurt my shoulders any more.

Today had a health theme to it...

First since I had someone scheduled to view my house today, I spent the morning chasign the cat around w/ the vacuum cleaner. Then cleared out for the 3 hr window the realtor scheduled:

1:30 pm - GNC -- stock up on stuff.
1:50 pm - tanning bed - 20 min of ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
2:20 pm - gym -- did light back + bis, but kept to close grip which makes it easier on my shoulders:
- close grip lat pull down: 85/15 100/12 x 2
- seated row close grip: 85/12 x 3
- Super: Smith row + bent over flys: 25/12 + 15/10 x 3
- Super: ez bar curls + hammer curls: 40/12 x 3 + 25/5 ->20/5->15/5 x 3

3:00 pm - deep tissue - got my ass kicked by a physical therapist who specializes in deep tissue. AWESOME! (and very humbling...)

Sun - 1/21/07-

Go Bears!

Had to clear out for a 4 hr window to accommodate 2 realtors showing my house. Spent 2 hrs runnign errands and wandering around Target. Then hit the gym for a light chest & tris, and then hit a yoga class. That was pretty cool. I'm still sore as crap from the massage therapist the other day.

Training: chest & tris
- stuck to incline bench as flat seems to spaz out my back these days
- incline DB + hi cable fly: 25/12 + 15/12, 30/12 + 15/12, 35/12 + 15/12
- HS seated press + low cable fly: 45/12 + 7/12 x 3
- knuckle pushups: 15 x 3
- skull crushers + close grip press: 40/12+12 x 3
- rope cable tri press + DB kick backs: 40/12 + 15/12 x 3

Yoga

Oh and I bought one of those foam rollers from Target today. Watched the video w/ the exercises real quick tonite. Good stuff! My back is too sore from the work over from the massage therapist to do that, but other stuff felt good.

foam rollers for the back? I am supposed to buy one of those too, but we don't have a target.

Workout looks great

You can get them online easily. I just happened to see it at Target so grabbed it. Online prices look so great until you add in shipping & then having to wait for delivery.

I'm very impatient.

Exploratory cardio aka what can the knees handle?

35 min recumbant bike
Abs:
- bench leg raises: 20 x 3
- V-ups: 15 x 3
- bench scissors 45 sec x 3
- weighted cable crunches: 60/20 x 3

Ok just for the record, I'm an idiot for staying up until 1 am and still haven't made food for tomorrow yet. BUT, it was for a good cause. A recruiter dude from Google contacted me on one of the networking sites I"m on. Wohoo!. Hell ya I'll stay up late & update my resume for a chance at some of that sick stock! Oh yea, I suppose the technology is pretty cool too.
