Pain after box squats

JOKER47

After my 6th set of box squats today, I got a shooting pain up the outside of my left leg. It feels like it's this. Or right in this area:

It kinda feels like it's pinched rather than pulled or just sore. I can put weight on my left leg if it's straight, but if I bend my leg while putting weight on it, it's a fairly intense pain. Makes it very hard to walk up stairs, for instance.

Anyone had this before? If so, what was it, and what did you do for recovery? To prevent it from happening?

Any other suggestions/ideas are appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Joker

Yes...those get worked a lot when box squatting. The WSB guys either wear super tight jeans or a squat suit. It protects the hips.

Stretch, do light band work, icy hot, ibuprofen, etc...

Thanks guys. I have had icy hot on it all weekend, and been taking ibuprofen. Feels lots better. Hard spot to stretch and massage, though.

Gonna take it easy Tuesday (back/bi) and see how it feels.

Thanks again,
Joker

If you can get AR, contrast therapy, stretching, etc...to work, you'd be better off laying off of the ibuprofen. It tears your muscles up and is actually counterproductive to healing.

I plan to start the AR and preventative maintenance tomorrow as a regular part of my routine. I only take the IB when pain requires it. It does feel a lot better, so I hope to cut down on the IB quite a bit. Besides, the more I take it, the less effective it is for me.

What are some good exercises for AR and/or preventative maintenance for this? I have some ideas, but would like to hear what other people have done.

Thanks,
Joker
