observation: my day of low carbs...

so ive been reading all i can about atkins, metabolic/anabolic diet, ckd, etc. (basically forms of controlled or keto diets) and decided today to try out doing a low carb day. i did roughly 40-50g carbs, if that.

so...
morning started, i felt weird from around 1100am to 130pm. after that, i was fine. right now its late at night, i just had 3 eggs, 4 strips of bacon and some cheese. feel just fine. not foggy headed or anything. very strange. i was under the impession that i would feel strange for a couple days. the true test will be tomorrow when i work out.

another weird thing i noticed is that i dont get a bloated feeling, i just get full or tired of eating. when i eat carbs i can actually eat til i feel "stuffed".

the greatest thing i noticed:

for the past month or 2 i have been drained all the time! yawn early morning incessantly, yearning for and taking a nap as often as possible etc. today, up all day. no yawning. still up as a matter of fact, which is odd to me. i had a thermo drink but i usually have one when im eating carbs and i still feel tired (just wired and tired if thats possible or i crash hard) today i didnt crash.

this is strange indeed. is this an indicator of my being insulin sensitive? i was really thinking i would be foggy and dragging today, but i dont feel that way at all.

I have been off a CKD for 10 days now. I'm still slowly adding my carbs so my carbs are stilll pretty low.

I was thinking about this too. I never felt tired or hungry on CKD.
I used to be alot more tired during the day like you.
Right now I'm in between, leaning a little more not being tired.
I'm not as "untired" as I was on CKD though. It also seems to be getting better, and I may have just been not sleeping enough.

I'm not sure if that means you're insulin sensitive though.
I would like to know as well.

TO become fully adapted to a low carb diet and to use fat efficently for energy takes 4-8 months of low carbing so unless you're preapred for the long haul u'll probably feel crap on a low carb diet. I did a skd for about 5 months. I felt I was fully fat adaptewd eating no mre than 40 grams of carbs a day but i have decided that this wasnt for me since i couldnt get to sleep, my muscles were constntly fatigued, i got flus and colds easier too

i find that eating Low gi carbs at around 30% of my total caloric intake works for me

i get around 150-170g of carbs a day, still low compared to what is reccomended by some ppl

4 to 8 months? I never heard that. I hear 2 to 3 weeks, give or take a few days either way, and you're adapted. Maybe not 100%, but efficiency wise, your body adapts.
Nate, you're not feeling bloated because you're eating more calorie dense foods, plus the whole 1g carb stores 3/4g water thing. The first day is never that bad, it's the first weeks that usually suck.

I have done the anabolic diet and I never felt bad on the low carb days, the weekend cheat is where I would go into a coma. The insulin and all the carbs would knock my ass out, I really didn't like that feeling. Then on Mondays I would feel so bloated and unathletic, hell with that. Just my experience!

I can vouch for bignate...he kept telling me how NOT tired he was! This is very unusual for him...mr. nappy-nap! He seems to be tired more often but not...but since his experimenting with no/low carbs, he has lots of energy! ;)
