Ketostix telling me something?

I've been on CKD for a while and I've been testing my urine with keto stix every so often. I am drinking at least 5 liters of water a day usually 7.
I have been registering 80+ on the ketostix and my urine is completely clear even in a dixie cup where it is not diluted by toilet water, so I don't think it's cause I'm not drinking enough water.

Is this an indication of any medical problem or does it just mean I can jump into ketosis much faster?
It does go negative or very light pink on my carb up days, but does not stay there long.

How should I adjust my diet to take advantage of this if possible?

Also could this explain why I have had so much success thusfar with the diet and training? (see topic "Aggressive weight loss plan")

I don't understand what the problem is. It only takes a couple days to go into ketosis and the sticks should turn light pink on carb up days. Your urine is clear as it should be since you're drinking so much water (BTW hold the ketostix in your urine stream instead of dunking them in the toilet or peeing into a cup). Are you afraid of ketoacidosis? I think you'd might be dead by now if that was the case. From what I understand it's pretty much impossible unless you're a type I diabetic, but ask your doctor if you're that concerned about it. Otherwise it looks like you're doing very well, and having much success! Keto diets are great -- I lost about 20 lbs of fat last time I did a cycle. ;)

I figured I could control the amount exposed to the urine better by peeing into a paper cup ;-)
Anyways it takes me 1 day to go into ketosis and it does not turn light pink, it durns dark red/purple it turns light pink on carb-up days. I've tried lowering my fat intake a bit too and that doesn't change it much.

It would turn dark red/purple for me too, but it would take 2-3 days. Maybe you're just extra prone to ketosis...
 
i must be.. i guess if I had diabetes i would stay in ketosis on carb-up days...


anyways does this mean I can eat a little more carbs that the avarge joe?
 
Consider yourself one of the lucky ones who can get into ketosis quickly. Once you get into ketosis you can probably drop your fat intake a lot...you might not even need to have it very high to get in...just kill the carbs and you're there. Enjoy the results!
