Hows my squat look? (VIDEO)

Looks great man...

My only advice is to not be so explosive at the end of each rep, seems like you're wasting energy that could be used during the begining or middle of the lift.

explosive is good! by going fast in the easier bits, you make the whole rep more productive! Its called CAT :)

Definitely not a waste of energy, because your recruiting more fibers and adding more tension to the muscle. Instead of doing half a rep like most bodybuilders who go slow, you get the full deal.

Ingram: No worries... no offence taken.... I might try doing that on my squats with rep ranges more hypertrophy specific instead of strength/fast twitch. I'm only doing 5 reps... and I'm working on getting my squat weights up to 315 as fast as possible...
I only started squatting near the end of July... basically, I've spent a TON of time working on my form.

I started out having a tough time squatting 185 for 5. Then I added 5 lbs a week until I got to 235...
Then I dropped back down to 185 again and REALLY attacked my form.. trying to go as deep as possible, while maintaining a nice back arch... then I added 5-10 lbs a week again until 225... then I kinda hurt my knee... so back down to 185 and adding 10 lbs a week, focusing on my form some more... So now 225 is pretty simple... I think I'll keep adding 5 lbs a week until I plateau, and then drop the weight and kind of do the same method I did to begin... It has worked very well for me thus far... I'm hoping to hit 315 for at least a couple reps by summer... Keep them fingers crossed...

If I understand what Ingram is getting at, I think he means explode out of the bottom of the lift rather than the top. No point in exploding at the top unless you are doing those jump squats you posted a vid of not long ago.
Working on exploding out of the bottom will assist greatly in getting up higher in weight. How many times have you or has someone you have seen gotten buried at the bottom of a heavy squat?

once you explode you keep it going all way to accomodate changing leverages, only slowing down at the very last instant - the less you slow down the better.

Its not that I'm specifically trying to explode at the top of the ROM... its the same ammount of force being excerted from the bottom of the lift to the top.. I guess the top of the lift is just easier for me to push than the bottom hence making me speed up????

I definitely think there is a correlation between 5 reps and muscular hypertrophy... but I think more so in the fast twitch fibres...
Forget whatever I said earlier... I never worded what I wanted to say properly.... we were making our coffees irish at work this morning and I couldn't get out the proper words... wasn't thinking straight...

And what makes a muscle grow in size the most? Yep fast twitch fibers. The bigger guys tend to be dudes with lots of fast twitch fibers, people with marathon genes aren't gonna grow a whole lot :)
