Personally, I'd much rather go higher on the protein and lower on the carbs.......you're talking over 100g of carbs in one meal bro....I usually eat 3/4 CUP OF STEEL CUT with 2 eggs, 10 whites, and maybe toss in a protein scoop for good measure........

That is a big ass breakfast if he eats all of that at once!

My breakfast is usually 1/2 cup steel cut oats (soaked in water overnight) and grilled chicken breast. If I'm in a rush I'll swap out the chicken with some protein powder.

why do you soak ur oats in water overnight? how is this different than microwaving them or pouring hot water over the oats?

Thanks

The steel cut oats are about as unprocessed as you can get - so they're very, very hard to chew unless you soak them. They're sometimes called "Irish Oats" or something like that. They're round and very hard (impossible to chew when raw). I guess you could boil them but that would take 20 minutes. I prefer to just soak them overnight - they get soft and then I just eat it cold. It's really just me being lazy!!

The rolled oats are also excellent though. They are obviously more processed than steel cut oat - but the difference it makes in GI isn't the reason I go with the steel cut oats - I just like the texture difference.
