Funniest thing you've ever seen at the gym.

i know this is not the exact place to post this but i was wondering if i'm doing leg presses and the squats right...so what is the right way to do it?

dragon what do u mean by bouncing the sled off the lockouts...

it might be a dumb question but i really don't wanna look like a fool when i'm doing my exercises...
thnks

I think its hilarious on the days that this 40 some year old guy works out. Everyone is in there doing their thing, he busts the door open, struts/runs in like he just came in from the 400 mile marathon, with at least 4 layers of workout clothes on. He takes off his jacket, throws it across the weight rack, plants all his shit all over all the place, and makes it a point to go around and say hi to everyone. He then proceeds to grab his 40 pound dumbells for a decline press, he starts to press, and on the first rep he starts screaming so loud you can hear it out in the parking lot. Its quite amusing LOL

you'l probaly think it's sad ,but....a lady was on the treadmill running her ass off and somehow fell, hit the track nd the thing threw her ass backwards in to the wall and didn't stop, everyone ran over, she didn't get hurt but everyone was laughing when they knew shw was ok..............

I saw the same thing on Beavis and Butthead- didn't know it was possible in reality but it must have been funny as Hell after they found out she was ok :D

Ok thats a big question.....
For leg press.....Sit down in the seat (!), plant your heat on the sled (different people use different footings) and push the sled off the safety racks. You should have a lever or something to move the safety bars out of the way (in dragons example the guy didnt do this and just drop the sled onto the safety bars so that the weight bounced back up). Lower the weight under control until your knees come to a 90 degree angle and press the weight back up. BTW if your lower back starts to round you are going down too far.

Squats....Make sure you use a cage or at least a squat rack. Keeping a natural arch in your back, rest the bar either across your shoulders or rest it on your rear delts. Walk out backwards, far enough to clear the rack uprights. Set your footing to a comfortable width (depends upon alot of things like length of torso relative to length of legs). Keeping your whole torso tight, push your ass out backwards and bend your legs to lower the weight. Go at least to the point where your thighs are parallel to the floor. On the way up lead with your head....it'll help to stop your back from rounding. I think thats everything.....

Heres mine, there is a bloke in my gym who insists swinging weights up on everything he does, despite any advise people give him.He gets on the preacher bench and proceeds to do low cable curls, rising out of his seat at the start and violantly leaning back while simultaniously curling. This time he doesnt tighten the attachment properly at at the top of the movement the handle detaches from the cable and he hits himself square in the forehead.5 stitches later and i havn't seen him around in a while:bawling:

There is also another guy who trains at my gym that is in a rock band.He trains in tight jeans, cowboy boots,a muscle vest and shades.Bear in mind i live in ireland.

You know the safety springs at the bottom of the sled that you can raise or lower to control how far down the sled goes? That was what he was using to gain momentum. He would slam the sled down and in turn it would raise back up itself....taking any kind of lift on his part out. Damn that guy was stupid.

Okay I saw something today that beats all of those.

This old woman is in very good shape, looks like a marathon runner or something. She is about 70 years old. She always comes in wearing these very short shorts, almost up to her ass. She does not look bad for her age, does not have a bad shape, but good lord, she is 70 and therefore has obseen looking wrinkles all over her. She needs to cover up.

Today she was on the stairstepper and while useing it she would throw her arms up in the air, almost as if she was "rasin' the roof" It was crazy. Then she went over to the area with the sit up boards and began to do some sort of dance with weights, I kid you not. She'd do bicep curls whilst thrustin' her hips and legs around. Crazy. She also turns the christian radio station on real loud. Nothing wrong with that but not everyone wants to listen to it I suppose. (It was just a small jambox in the cardio room, so only a few others heard it, not the whole place.)
