All right! Another walker!!

I've walked 16 miles in one day (measured with a pedometer) and 54 miles in a weekend.....Love walking....more interesting than the machines at the gym.....The hub & I walk to the gym every day...

Great and all, since it can be very mentally soothing, but it's just not gonna get you the results that HIT or any other type of cardio is going to yield....I mean, I'll play 18 holes 2x a week, but I def. don't sub. it in for my cardio training..............

Oh I know, I do HIIT 1-3x per week in addition.

As long as you only play 18 holes of golf & stay away from the bad for you 19th hole..... :p

Guys, what's a good cardio progression for someone at the intermediate level looking to get lean? I plan on starting out at 35 minutes 3 times a week in the AM(Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday)and weight train 3 times a week(Monday, Wednesday & Friday). Should I boost it to 45 minutes 3 times a week, then when the fat loss slows down add a 30 minute day on Tuesday?? Evaluate, then add another 30 minute day on Thursday, then Saturday?? I'll be using an Inclined Treadmill at roughly 4.0-4.5 mph. NO running for me!!

MY FAVORITE IS A COMBO.15 min stair stepper/15 min stat. bike/15 min row machine 6 days a week all done back to back

I see people do this and rave about it...........mainly because they take their sweet ass time (go get water, towel off, etc.) in between stations........IMHO, this defeats the purpose of cardio (letting or HR get back to resting).........Id much rather hit one machine for intense 30-35minutes, not letting my body recover until the timer reads 0:00..........

well for your info i have my on gym at home and have evrything set up so i can go directly to each station with out missing a beat.after 12 years of the one station for cardio thing i have found this works best for me now.dont look at my post and think i am some kid here who does not know what he is doing.

I also like the low impact of the elliptical, however, I think that actual running is much beter for you. The problem is that since I don't do actual running that often, when I do, it sucks. I can easily do 45 mins + on the elliptical, but burn out quick on actual turf, my legs also feel the hard impact 'casue they're not used ot it.

I'm in the same situation. I like running as its higher intensity, but calf and knee problems prevent me from running.

On the bright side due to my weight and the fact taht i use the higher resistance levels the computer says i burn about 1300 kcal/hr on the elliptical. I have no idea how true that is though.

Boxing is fun cardio too. So is anything physical done with friends (paintball, basketball, football, bicycling, bukkake, etc)
