I like the elliptical because I just don't like straight our running on the treadmill and climbing stairs I just don't like.

I pretty much cut running out of my cardio routine a year ago. I am 23 right now, but I don't want to be looking back years later with bad knees. I like the eliptical, and a very brisk walk on an incline treadmill for about 30-45 mins.

Try having two replaced ACL's...

I prefer an elliptical machine. You can burn more in a short period of time. It is low impact and your whole body feels the workout. ;)

I usually do most of my cardio on stationary bikes but I do some treadmill and have been incorporating the elliptical into my routine. I have a very messed up ankle and a bad knee (both have gotten better with my weight loss) so the bike was the only thing that didn't aggrevate either of these.

I dunno what it is about the elliptical maybe its my height but it makes my quads burn like fire like Im not getting full extension of my leg and it makes it where I can only go for 5 or so minutes where I can do a hour on the bike.

i love the elliptical.
it's more fun the the others.
i'd run if i could, but im a real bad runner.

a sign in my gym said the elliptical overestimates calories burned by up to 26%
keep that in mind..

The best form of cardio by far is skipping...It is a fact that skipping takes 3 times the effort of running, gives your a good respiratory rate...Tops for fitness.
Also helps alot with fitness, everyone knows how to run, but skipping gives you balance co-ordination and that something extra.
Remember if your down for time a 10 minute skipping session is the same as a 30 minute run.

Thanks, Kustom.

It's amazing that this thread went for 4 pages before someone mentioned skipping. Low intensity is great for warming up prior to working out. High intensity is great for burning off calories. Good for improving co-ordination, stability, balance, rhythm and best of all you can take it where ever you go.
