Na, I grip the bar with my hands the same as bench press but with reverse grip. So if your feet ate positioned shoulder width or so you're grip should be just outside your legs. Try deadlifting without shoes that will def help. Also be sure to use your hips as leverage, that's were your power should come from. Straps will also help. Before you pull look straight ahead and pick a spot on the wall and focus on that throughout the set. Deadlifts are money for growth bro....def my favorite lift, shift is a rush when you go heavy on deads
