Eggs & Egg Beaters Questions

Two questions--
1. Okay this is sort of dumb, but can you drink egg beaters just mixed out of the carton?
2. Can I make a bunch of hard-boiled or scrambled eggs one day to eat several days later? Does the protein breakdown after a certain time?

Yes, the egg beater's is pasteurized so you can drink it out of the carton (might taste like crap).

And the protein in the eggs won't break down - but after a few days the eggs will spoil like any other food. Keep them refrigerated after cooking and they'll be fine for three or four days.

Thanks. I haven't tried the egg beaters yet, but I bet it does taste pretty nasty.

3-4 days...sounds pretty good. Does it matter if they're scrambled or hard-boiled. Damn, it'd make breakfast so much easier to prepare in advance.

Scrambled or hard-boiled - both are fine - once the eggs are cooked they'll be fine for a few days (refrigerated of course).

what section of the store do you find egg beaters? and why are they better than eggs? i would imagine they are more expensive...

Egg beaters are just the whites so there is no cholesterol. It is in the egg aisle.

I have drank it straight up before but it made me gag so f'in bad. What I do on CKD is mix it in with a tall glass of water. This way it is not so bad.

I've been eating egg geaters for months now. 1/4 cup of it is equal to 1 egg. It has:
0g Fat
6g protein
1g Carb

I usually just make an omlet with 'em every morning.

Yeah they're more expensive($2.10). I thought they'd be more convenient, but I think I'll stick to preparing hard-boiled eggs every 3 days.

Stock up on the Egg Beaters or Egg Whites in the carton when they are on sale & stick em right in the freezer when you get home. Then just let them thaw out & use them. They last longer & may swell up a little in the freezer but willl be ok. I use the Egg Whites in the carton when I make turkey burgers, meatloaves, etc + also make scrambled eggs. Tip: use a dash of egg beaters to the whites to make it look more like scrambled eggs.
