I've heard different things about shirts as far as giving them exact measurements. For example, I gave them exacts for my poly, and it's a decent practice shirt, but not a good comp shirt because it's not tight enough. I think it varies, depending on who makes it.
If you can afford it, I'd say get a shirt now to start practicing with it, then get another one when you outgrow it. I thought the same thing, wait until I get bigger, but if I had done that, I'd still be waiting.
