Carbo-Lite Candies..... any good??

I am currently on a low carb diet, not a keto diet, I have only 2 more weeks left of hardcore dieting and will be looking to maintain a low BF. I was thinking of some snacks, since I havent had any in about 12 weeks, and I came across these Carbo-Lite candies that look pretty good, no sugars but something like 30g of carbs. How are they? taste wise and also I was thinking if they would be bad to snack on, I dont see why not if they taste good.

Carbo-lite uses maltitol in most of their candies....which doesn't tend to impact blood sugar in most people (I think Carbo-lite markets their candy toward diabetics....or am I thinking of another product?).

In any event....individual response will vary - and I've heard several people point out that polyols can restore glycogen if consumed in excess.

But if not cutting, just trying to keep BF low before beginning a bulking phase, Im guessing they wouldnt be bad, well at least better than regular candies, right?

They may theoretically be better but you could always swig down a protein shake before eating a normal candy bar and be fine. If you look at the GI lists of various foods you will see that Snickers and Peanut M&M's actually have decent GI ratings and are lower than a lot of "clean" foods. I don't think one of these candy bars a day so long as you eat them with protein, and some ALA, will do much harm if you aren't trying to lose fat.

If you can find Asher's Liquid Caramel Bars you will quickly abandon other low carb bars. The taste is nearly identical if not better than a Caramello candy bar.

The only thing is maltitol. Excess can lower your ketosis levels.

I go in cycles with this stuff. I'll go a few days or so on these types of low carb bars and then I stay off for a couple of weeks.

The problem with these bars (particularly the Asher's) is that it doesn't help you with cravings for things that taste great. So my feeling is they are great for occasional use.

i just use these type of bars as a "cheat" snack during my keto phsase of ckd,,ive been trying to avoid them

But, for me at least, id rather take my chances with that than eating regular candy and getting chubby.

I said "For me at least" because that is the reaction I have from it. I wouldnt eat anything that bloats me when I am trying to look cut.

I dont understand your reasoning for this response.
