strongman questions

how long should one wait to screw around with cars, stones, etc? like, should somebody be able to bench 400, squat 600, etc to even think about training with those kinds of things?

what about age? is there any tendon/ligament issues due to a younger age?

i realize a lot of taller competitors come out on top. do shorter guys ever really do well?
 
The height that much of the stuff has to be lifted works against short guys.

Conan's wheel, we might have an advantage on. Any pressing movement, we would have an advantage on.

The more time that you spend on the events...the better that you will be. Technique means so much in any kind of athletic adventure. You might be suprised at what you can do even if you are not all that strong in the gym yet.

I can not see why age would be a factor in strongman...or where there would be a risk of tendon or ligament issues. Kids play football and basketball don't they?

thanks...im getting a squat rack in a couple days, so i'm going to do some reverse hypers and light GM's to fix my back up. then i'm going to get some training toys.

i see nastrongman has a teen division!! hell yes!!

could you help me with a split? i was thinking i would do 5x5 for squats because i haven't even tried PL form yet. so as soon as that stops working, i'll do DE and ME and boxes, etc.

today i did: DE bench

speed bench: 95 + doubled minis: 8x3, pinky, middle(x3), index 2

incline bench: 135x8, 185x5(PR)

timed barbell holds: 225 x 37 seconds
275 x 15 seconds

criticism/comments on how i need to train for strongman and what i did wrong today?

I'm gonna try to go out and do a little bit of training myself today...I'll have some info and ideas for you this evening.

Read this...especially the post by my friend Sully...he is one of the top teen strongmen in the country and could be the BEST if/when he increases his base strength AND workd on his technical skills on the events.
