From May 2006 Glamour magazine....
(shortened cuz I didn't feel like typing it all out, but you get the jist)
8 Things worth knowing about Hollywood's body obsession
1) You are good at your job, they are good at theirs.
Sure a lot of celebs have bodies to die for. But remember, they are paid to look good.
2) It takes a village to look that great.
When you're looking at Miss HOt New Celeb Hardbody and kicking yourself for not having abs of steel, remember that you don't have a staff of 7 or unlimited funds. Jennifer Aniston allegedly spends $6,000 per month for trainers.
3) Even teeny weight fluctuations get them in trouble.
Kate Moss was described as having a "fuller figure" after she gained 7 pounds!!
4) On the other hand, some celebs do have serious eating disorders. And that's not funny.
Is it fair to monitor an acctess's every bite & bulge, and then be surprised if she develops an illness related to her body image??
5) Don't believe those "I never diet" claims.
Celebs aren't always honest about why & how they lose weight.
6) There's been a lot of "model creep" in Hollywood.
Modeling clothes & making movies used to be 2 different career choices. Now, not so much. Actors & acresses are increasingly treated as clothes hangars....and to get in on free clothes, stars pretty much have to fit into a sample size, usually a 2 or a 4.
7) They are on camera 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Thus, there are no fat days allowed. If you display one lump, bump or bulge, you can expect to see it dissected to death online and in the tabloids.
8) Finally - this body thing: How come it's just women?
In a recent taloid sampling, Glamour counted 56 stories about women's weight issues and just 8 stories about men's.
