Ok You Leg Warriors You Talked Me Into Squatting and Now My Lower Back is Killing ME

bignat,

Are you saying I shouldn't use a weight belt when doing squats?

Weight belts tend to keep your stomach and lower back muscles from strengthening when doing squats. The only time to use one is on the real heavy, max out lifts. So I think at this point in your "squatting career," you're better off without one.

Thanx curling. I am not bignate, but IMHO, you should not use a weight belt. Start out with relatively low weight and progress from there. A weight belt may relieve some stress on your back, but in turn it will make your abs and low back work less and cause them to weaken over time, or at least not gain strength.

thanks guys. You know what's funny I will spend two or three hundred bucks on a cycle but hated the fact of spending $50 on a weight belt. GO figure. And jabs I will put those exercises in my regimend to see if that helps.

Whoa, did i hear don't do squats and deads on the same day? If your bulking and looking to gain mass this is a must. The only heavy movement to recruit ham growth are deadlifts and i would doubt doing a 2 day slit, 1 being quads the other being deads. All or nothing folks.
