No desire to workout

I know that many of you don't believe in training partners. I found out recently how much I relied on my training partner of 2 years when he moved to another city. I no longer have motivation to even get to the gym and when I do, I have a less than stellar workout. Not only can I not do the weight I was able to with his spotting help but his motivational help is sorely lacking. Any suggestions on how to re-gain my motivation?
: bawling:

Motivate yourself. Don't depend on others to give you your inspiration. That should come from your heart, brain and penis. No joke. In 5 years of training i have never used a spotter once except for that time that i let my best friends sister come to the gym and spot me. All she ended up doing was checking out the other men. Just psych yourself out before and during your workout. Buy magazines, talk to thers in the gym and ask for a spot every once and a while from the biggest guy around. He'll push you thats for sure.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'll say it again...My secret weapon is my training log. It acts as my personal trainer and motivator all in one. I used to worry about feeling stupid carrying a little book around the gym, but now I don't care, because it works.

Just having the day's workout written out beforehand gets me to the gym, because I hate the thought of leaving blanks. (I tend to be obsessive/compulsive anyway, and I'm just putting those qualities to good use.)

Also, beside certain key exercises like squats or bench press, I make a note of my highest reps at that weight. That gives me goal to shoot for, so it's just like a personal trainer urging me to crank out another rep.

I'll just expand a little on what's already been said. You were lucky to have someone that could train with you consistently. That's pretty rare. You got accustomed to it. Now, you have to get accustomed to lifting alone. It's like starting a new job, or a diet or something, the first week or two will suck. You have to force yourself to go. But after that, it will become normal.

You'll be fine bro. I know you won't let two years go to waste.

Here is something to motivate you (no offence intended below).

GET OFF THAT COACH AND EXERCISE YOU PIECE OF FAT LARD! IF YOU DONT EXERCISE THE FUCKING BELLY GONNA HANG FROM YOUR JEANS. IF YOU AREN'T ABLE TO RIP YOURSELF APART IN THE GYM THAN IT IS TIME FOR THE PRISON WHERE INMATES WILL RIP APART YOUR FRESH ASS! HAVING 12 INCH WONDER ARMS IS GAY! STOP BEING A FAGGOT AND GET YOURSELF SOME GUNS, SOME WHEELS AND A MOTORCYCLE (forget about the motorcyclepart)

There you go... that should motivate you!

What are you goals? If you don't have any, maybe you should set some. If you want to get ripped, bigger, leaner, stronger, whatever, make it your goal and set your mind on it. Focus on what you want to accomplish and don't let anything get in your way. Good luck bro...

training logs are good ideas, don't worry about the way you look, whenever i see someone with a log book it makes me respect them because they're not just in there trying to be "macho", they obviously have a goal and a plan to get there. goals and plans are two very important keys of working out.

btw, i work out alone all the time. other people don't motivate me to work harder. they just hold me back from reaching my full potential. look at this as your chance to reach your potential.

oh for the love of god, your posting here when you could be at the gym kicking ass. Stop crying that your partner left, and start throwing the iron around. It's the love of the sport, the desire for gains. Now stop acting like Dick Vermeil on sunday...and throw on the GODSMACK and do some heavy deads...

Maybe these posts will kick your ass into gear. I left, it's true, but please, puhlease, do not let that be a reason for your workouts to go to hell. You had stellar workouts prior to our pushing each other, and we WILL manage to continue to make gains. I told you I would get you to 175, and I did, now it's time to take on further growth with or without me.
