My theory on bulking and cutting diets

Wouldn't this make since? If a man wants to burn fat he is told to eat 6 or 7 small meals a day to keep his metabolism high so more fat could be burned off. But, if a man was bulking, wouldn't it make since for him to eat 3 or 4 large meals a day in order to keep the metabolism a little slower thus allowing weight gain? Is this completely stupid? What do ya think? BamBam

you'll gain more fat with 3 large meals/day

Agreed. Also, where in the world did you get the idea that a slower metabolism would reduce gains in muscle mass??? Any time metabolism slows down, your rate of protien synthesis may slow down as well, thus you will produce fewer protiens with which to build and repair muscle tissue.

The skinny guys who blame their metabolism for not gaining are just making excusses, the oposite is true, but somehow this myth has been purpetrated. In all honesty, if they actually had a high metabolism, instead of the real culprete of trying to gain on 2200 calories and/or lack of proper training, they would be able to gain muscle at a faster rate.

Higher metabolic rate= higher rate of protien synthesis.

That's the good half of the story... but in actuality you get higher total protein turnover... both synthesis and catabolism

Acutally, I didn't say you would gain muscle mass, but weight. But, you guy's are right, it would all be fat therefore it would be unwanted weight. thanks for the input. Bam

think about this.....

Eat your dessert first to get an insulin spike b-4 the main course...

Fair enough, but by eating more calories and protien, one reduces the catabolic effect, thus it becomes beneficial for those trying to gain muscle.

It would have the same effect as a slug of insulin, but on a smaller level....
