MM107's Road To Record Breaking. The Journal of a Madman

nice work, and you are right about not using a belt, avoid it at all costs. i only use a belt for max squat and deadlift attempts, or when going severely heavy on rack pulls or shrugs. Its the best way to build up core strength, look at oly lifters, they never train with belts on, ever.

and on the jump squats, try setting up a bench to jump up onto. as you get better and better at them prop up the bench higher and keep progressing up, both with height and weight.

Hello World. This weekend was a MONSTER WEEKEND. Trained both Saturday & Sunday. But Sunday I drove to Skiba's Gym in Catarat NJ. Its a powerlifting Gym, and i was invited down so a big guy there named Tone (amazing guy) could teach me the groove of my Rage X Shirt. Was worth it 100% and will talk more in the Log about Tone.

Im going on what my memory best rememebers, since my coach keeps all the #'s we do in his book and he formulates everything i tend not to pay much 2attention. Just bang heavy shit lol

Saturday's Workout
Excercises Performed: Squat / Trap Bar Deadlifts
Intensity Rating (1-10): 13

Squat/ Band Making TOP Deadly Heavy:
Warmed up good.
429 x 1
517 x 1
530 x 0 ( Blooper, The fuckin left bad was out of place on mono wich caused the left side to tilt causing me to dump, and got it all on camera! lol)
530 x 1 (Didnt get parrelel, almost, but not there, Bands were pulling me foward at 530lbs so to avoid another dump i went up early.)

Trap Bar Deadlifts on 3 mats:
375 x 1
463 x 1
507 x 1
*551 x 1
*Rounded my back on last rep. All other reps were with my back completely arched.

Actually went home with some popped blood vessels wich is a good thing in my book since i am breathing right now it really is the pressure with my gear.

Sunday's Workout
Excercises Performed: Bench and Rear Delt Work
Intensity Rating (1-10): 15 (couldnt look bitch at another gym)
Drove To cataratet NJ. There is an Powerlifting Gym wich houses a member by the name of Tone. I met him at the Asylum Competition. He is a member at anohter board and we chatted and i couldnt get my bench press form perfect while i had the shirt on. I couldnt get 275lbs to touch my chest, he told me instead of doing heavy weight to touch, learn the groove with 275 and this is what we went over. Amazing Guy, big personality even bigger lifter.

Bench:
Warmed up.
225x5 (no shirt)
275x3 (shirt)
275x3(shirt)
315x0 (shirt - we had the shirt pulled really tight)
315x1(shirt) - NEW PR* in shirted bench

Board Presses w/o shirt:
These were done differently then i ever done them, untcontrolled dropping of the bar to the board with explosive up and driving the bar.
135 -10+ untill Big Tone said i was done.
225 - 5 - i was drained by this rep.

The Sebastion: Tone didnt even know what to call this so he named it this..
**Basically cleaned the bar up and threw it out it front of you then pulled it back and dropped and then cleaned and repeat***
65x8 @ 4 sets

Tips Learned from the Bench Day:
1. Squeeze the bench w/ your legs
2. Drop your shoulders
3. Tuck elbows hard
4. Squeeze Shoulder blades toger and keep back tight
5. Drive Legs through the heel
6. Grab bar underhand to get set up and get a good arch.
7. As the bar travels up --- pretend to pull bar apart causing the weight to go back.
8. Wrap Wrists nice and Tight

smart move writing out all the steps - its going to be ever important to make sure u kind of go through a mental checklist as the weights get heavy

nice workouts man, I always use a belt over 500 nowadays, simply because going raw over that causes a little more tipping forward.. but anything under whatever your 'mark' for form breakdown is should always be raw

heavy stuff, great idea to jot every warmup set down too

btw I ended up doing those sumo pulls I told you not to do ;)

night now still clean as a whistle.....dont know how much longer buahahah lol

but im going into the AAPF for DEC 2, so if i get tested i would get banned if i was on..

AAPF is amateur and is tested
APF is not tested.

if you are going to do the meet on Dec2, don't start your cycle until after that meet, as there is a high chance that you would get tested, even higher chance if you finish in the top 3 for your weight class.

Like Bossman said, dont go below a 12" box. Lately I've been using a 11" box with a 3" cushion on top of it (when I sit, it squishes all the way down). this puts me at parallel. that is the key to speed squats. you want to at least hit parallel, if not slightly below. in your videos, it looks like you are very close to parallel, but not sure 100% if the lift would be good in a meet.

Here is a great article by Sebastian Burns on setting up for shirted bench.
