I hate corporations. I need my own business.

They're always pulling stupid shit to give themselves something to do and to keep people afraid for their jobs, thinking they will get more productivity out of them this way. We have a mandatory meeting on my day off at 7 a.m. in the morning. Will I get paid? No. I hate things that I have no control over.

I wonder if George Spellwin has another job?

Yep starting your own biz is a thrill like nothing else

besides 2 chicks at once

You live in Dallas aslo. Do you have your onw business?

Owning the shop is much much harder than it looks like.

You probably work for a larger corp and the owners are nowhere to be seen.

bad mamagement is the issue there. I would *never* do that to my people...

sorry to hear that.

You got it right. I'd rather work for a small business with good people.

we're in the middle....about 120

it;s more fun when it;s 10 but 120 is a goo damount still. 300 or so is too big to be enjoyable very often.

Matt is 100% correct.

Owning your own business is no walk in the park.

I started my own business a little over a year ago, and I can tell you first-hand things like inventory, advertising, and (worst of all) taxes are a bitch to deal with when you're running the whole show by yourself.

The old 9-5 grind has its advantages, like a steady paycheck and health bennies (assuming you have a decent job to begin with). When you own your own business, you never know when your next customer is going to come along, and paying for your own health insurance isn't cheap. Then take into account that many businesses will take 2-3 years to start showing an actual profit, making the first few years very lean ones. :(

Just like most everything else in life, it's a double-edged sword.

Freelance or consulting is good. I can go to school full time and still pull more ass than a toliet seat.
