I am Tired of DOMS

I Told You So ...

I just want to say that, I really and truly am. I am one of the few, one of the rare, one of the blessed ... I STILL get DOMS, and it's no better than it was than when I first put paw to iron ...

The day after deadlifts everything from the hips down hurts ...

The day after chest and arms my pecs are miserable and it feels like someone was trying to dislocate both of my arms from the sockets ...

The day after lats/back I can actually FEEL my entire trapezius muscle ...

Etc., Etc., Etc.

I realize that I'm whining ... I'm just tired of it. God isn't there an herb or a vitamin that would help??? Could I add something to my diet??? Delete something??? Isn't there anything that makes one less susceptible???

Why does getting into shape have to hurt so much ... :worried:

I have to go to the vitamin store tonite, I'll try just about anything. Any particular dosages???

Glutamine I try to get 3 grams in a day. 1 gram in the AM 1 gram after training and 1 before bed you can mix it in with a shake or what I do is in a shot glass with a little water straight. MSM I will be honest a little more lack on it only take it when my knees flair up

Glutamine helps general recovery. Glucosamine chondroitin & MSM are great for joint pain. I've had recurring tendonitis for years and MSM is the only thing that has put a dent in it.

I'll try the glutamine first and go from there. One thing I learned a long time ago, one thing at a time when it comes to vitamins.

I tried glucosamine/chondroitin before and it was WONDERFUL ... until it flared my ummm, intestinal issues, which happens to some people unfortunately (I'm celiac). I had to give up joint pain relief ... it's not really my joints so much anymore, it's the damn, damn, damn DOMS!

Thank ya ladies!

YOu can find MSM by itself in most supplement stores -sometimes there's a formula that is MSM + Glucosamine, but you can get just plain MSM as well. Don't know if that would give you intestinal problems. MSM made a huge difference for me. Took a little time for the stuff to work.

I take the combination, helped my shoulder problems nicely, though it did take a few weeks to notice much of any change. My limited understanding is that DOMS 'pain' is due to swelling of the tissue around the micro tears?! I hope I have that right. I haven't tried it myself, but papaya/pineapple papain enzyme and extract of ginger-root are both excellent natural anti-inflammatories and have been used by many folks for DOMS: worth a try anyway, hon.
