Is it health reasons? Is it because of the cost? The stupid steroids laws? Or what?
Health reasons:
Partially. I know that steroid use accompanied by the significantly increased macronutrient requirements will have negative effects on my future health; however, most things will, so this is not the main reason.
The cost:
I can easily afford an exemplary first cycle. (If I knew what a good first cycle was, that is.)
The stupid steroid laws:
I do what I please. If I want to gamble, I will gamble. If I want to drive a little faster than the speed limit, I will drive a little faster than the speed limit. I do everything I do based on desire, not legality. So this is not a reason at all.
The main reason I am and will continue to be natural is simply because of my goals. I'm not looking to be a 280lb ripped mass monster. My long-term goal is 215-225lbs at 6-8% bodyfat. I have a naturally fast metabolism, so the bodyfat part is not difficult. I've got about 45lbs to go, and I know I can do it in the years to come.
I don't see bodybuilding as a race. The journey is part of the destination. I don't want to skip from 175lbs to 200lbs without knowing what 185lbs was like. I know that every pound I gain will be a pound that I keep, and I know that I will look good year-round. Not going to be a fat slob for half the year only to get ripped for 2 weeks before becoming a fat slob again.
Think about it. Two trainees both at 175lbs. Once juices and gets to 225lbs within a year, the other remains natural and finally reaches 225lbs in 5-7 years. The difference? Well, tell me who worked harder and who is going to appreciate it more.
