CrystalChick

New member
Hi Ladies,

I am looking for an Eliptical Trainer to do AM Cardio at my home instead of going to the gym in the AM.
The prices are waaaaay out of my budget.
Any alternatives? Suggestions?
Please keep in mind I have people that live below me

Thanks CC:D

Hi, I know I haven't been here in a LONG time but I just came back today and saw your post. I just got an eliptical machine from e-bay, it actually ended up being the same one that Walmart sells for around $150. I bought it to supplement my workouts with my treadmill. Mind you, it's not health club quality and if your looking for that you ARE going to pay a lot of money but I think that this machine works really well for your "homework". I too live in a second floor apartment and my neighbors don't hear it (of course I also have a mat underneath). I also saw elipticals at places like Sears, Dick's sporting goods and places like local papers where people are trying to get rid of equipment. I think if you look around, especially on ebay you might be suprised and find something reasonable. Good Luck!!!

We shopped all over as well and finally found a "Stamina II Conversion" elliptical/stepper. You can set it one way and it's a stepper, kinda like a Stairmaster, or set it another way and it's an Elliptical. We were blown away by how smooth and quiet it is. I'm 275 pounds and I use it 20 minutes a day with no problems. We got it at Academy for $220...:p

Do you have a Sam's Club or Costco nearby? Sam's Club has a better quality ProForm ellipitical for around $490 while Costco has a simpler ProForm elliptical for about $300. I think you can get free shipping from Sam's Club - check their website.

Or try sportauthority.com. Right now they have free shipping and they have ProForm and Fitness Quest models. I don't know how reliable they are or whether they are quality made, though. You might want to go in to a store to try them out.

You also need an exercise/equipment flooring mat for underneath it to absorb the noise and protect the floor.

Oh..if you can't tell I have been researching prices for a while including eBay and so far I have decided to wait until someone puts it up for sale in the paper after the New Year rush.

Good luck!
