First Cycle Diet for 3900 calories @ $5 a day

O.O

Synpax I love you.

Have my babies.

I can finally get carbs down. Easily.

Oatmeal in milk. Blended oats. Stir into milk in a large glass.

OH! MY! FUCKING! LORD!

:FRlol: AHHHHHHHHHH!

By the by, Synpax, your $4.03 will be demolished by the cost of 90g flax oil. That's roughly 3 tbsp. That'll end up being $2 a day, plus cost of milk. Still nothing horrible, but certainly not as cheap as you may have anticipated.

I think you'd be better off using 1 tbsp flax (you'll get enough EFAs from 1 tbsp), some fish oil caps, and then EV olive oil to make up your fat content. You'll be getting all the good fats you need that way, and it'll be cheaper.

Also - how often do you eat? Using protein powder only, I would think, would leave you catabolic if you're not drinking a shake every 2 hours, roughly.

the fuck?
whey is one of the most efficient sources of nutrients out there and given its marginal cost of consumption it is simply perfect. The only reason why I wouldn't be sipping whey alone is because there is simply no savory flavor/brand out there - quite frankly all taste like shit. other than that I dare anyone find other sources of protein with comparable amino acid, microfraction and mineral profile. And I don't see any problem in making a pro shake with oats, oat fiber, inulin, glucomannan, dextrose/malt, etc; I'd just avoid mixing in oils - but i do it nevertheless.

Awesome Juve.

One thing though. I feel whey is superior as well, except for the fact that it digests very quickly. Would this be an issue if one is eating/drinking every 3-4 hours? I heard AA levels in the bloodstream drop to nothing after about two hours after whey consumption. Is this true?

If it is, wouldn't you need to have a scoop of protein every two hours to keep a positive nitrogen balance? I'd really like to hear your take on this, Juve.

No reason you can't fulfill your amino requirements with shakes, I take in over 60% of protein from shakes. Meats are an inferior sources of protein to dairy and eggs based on the most up to date measure of protein quality. That being said, I still believe in consuming meats for the other nutrients outside of protein.

You do realize the bioavalibity of protien isn't the only factor that determines how good your protien source is... right?

That's the other problem with whey so it seems. Aminoacid blood concentartion was observed to be elevated after only like 45mins post-administration, and if not utilized we have gluconeogenesis - that's why whey makes lotta sense prior/post workout.
Of course there is also the fancy micellar casein, milk isolate etc - the stuff is too expensive and all the proprietary blends by supp companies probably only include it in the label to make a 2lb bucket of chalk come at $30 a piece. Buying from customizers doesn't lend much credibility either. So here it seems more sensible to consume real food to extend amino release. Not to mention, no matter which flavor you get, micellar still tastes like vomit, dissolves like it wasn't meant to be.
But I have had great success with whey+carb+fiber or whey+fat+fiber (or no fiber) meals throughout the day - still though one of those companies needs to come out with a reasonable flavor matrix :o

Tom (or anyone else) if you're looking for liquified calories, try this. I have it every morning before class:

1 cup 1% cottage cheese
1 cup oats
2 bananas
2 tbsp natty PB
12-16 oz. water depending on how thick you like your shakes

900 clean and delicious calories in under 5 minutes. I love bulking.
