As I have mentioned in my earlier post, I am switching to 3 week steroid cycles & am looking for a training routine that will allow me maximum strength gains in this short period.

I have looked into 5x5, HST, and west side training. Although HST is not specifically for powerlifting I was wondering if anyone knows or has used it for powerlifting.

All help appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend HST for powerlifting. However if you're trying to change weight classes, either by bulking up or cutting down, then it'd be a good choice.

A more strength-oriented program would be much more appropriate if and when you're at your desired body composition.

On steroids you can probably do a LOT and not overtrain. Hell, I can even do squats ME twice a week while off and not overtrain.

Since you are only gonna be on for 3weeks, I would suggest something like this:

Hit squats, deads, bench 3X a week but one of the times should be DE and the other 2times ME.

Overall I would stick just to the following exercises and forget that isolation crap:

deads
squats
bench
dips
barbell rows
pull ups
close grip bench
skull crushers or JM press
barbell curls

A lot of people will probably say that you will overtrain with this workout, but depending on what you take you should do good.

Anyway, that's just my suggestion. :) You might wanna do things like board press or floor press instead of the bench ...

Hah, I missed the part about steroids. Shit dude, just do HST, your growth will be ridiculous. You'll probably gain a ton of strength too. Just be careful about pushing strength so you don't injure connective tissue.

Those are exactly the exercises I had in mind. For the Deads, Squats & Bench Press I will perform 2 sets only, between 4-8 reps. For the rest only 1 set each between 4-8 reps. Each exercise will include a proper warm up.
