Does caffeine speed up your metabolism?

Does it? Someone told me that and I didn't believe them. I'm doing a diet where i take carbs outta my diet and someone goes you should drink some plain black coffee because it speeds up your metabolism. Also what does ckd stand for? People are always talking about the ckd diet and I don't know what it is. thank you.

it does indeed speed up your metabolism, but only marginally, and over extended period of time you become desensitized to it ence the necessity to increment dosages to achieve desired effects...not worth it as far as metabolic enhancers are concerned, only additional stress on CNS

Caffeine and green tea extract are in any diet pills that work at all, besides ephedrine and stuff like that which can mess you up. If it doesn't hurt your stomach, drinking a few cups of black coffee won't hurt you, the caffeine in coffee doesn't give me a buzz at all, however it helps me go to the bathroom which is awesome when you consume as much protein as I do, and protein can constipate you big time. To answer your original question, if you are sitting at a computer, caffeine will have a minimal effect on your metabolism, but if you use the "false energy" it gives you, than you can have a better workout which allows you to burn more calories. For example, today I had no energy at all, I had like 4 hours of sleep, so I drank a few diet mountain dews and it gave me a bit of a boost, I went to the gym and had an amazing workout. Without the caffeine I probably would have stayed home.

what Isaac said !

coffee/caffeine is useful because it can give tou a "kick in the ass" allowing you to train better, longer, heavier or do a better cardio session

what's more, with caffeine, you don't feel pain or fatigue as much as with only water

I love caffeine. I'm not a massive carb eater, so to boost my energy before workouts, I drink a large cup of coffee. I also drink a large cup about an hour before my cardio to aid with fat loss.
