Depleting Legs PreContest

I have read somewhere in the past that gave me the impression that I should not deplete my legs of glycogen during the carb depleting workout before a show. Bodybuilders deplete only their upper bodies right before they hit the carb up process while they don't mess with their legs.

What's the reason for that? I would love to know the answer or if this is at all valid.

Anyone???
 
You ruin the vascularity of your legs. During workouts, however miniscule, your body responds by sending vital fluids to that area. Hence the famous "pump". Problem is, it also is non-selective and you get water under the skin....reducing vascularity.

Legs suffer tremendously from this as they are a large muscle group compared to others. That's why you'll find in most depletion and pre-contest schemes, that for a Friday night or Saturday night show, your last leg workout is no later than Monday, and your last cardio session is Tuesday.....any more and your risk peaking for the show.

This was my personal experience as well, other competitors, feel free to chime in here :-).

I can see what you mean... It takes my legs a long time to recover. I also have noticed that after working them hard, the vivid definitions on them (striations specifically) disappear temporarily. When they recover, they look a lot better.

I am laying off heavy training of my legs 2 weeks out. My show is in 4 weeks.

I have a question. I am at about 6% body fat now... maybe less.. My legs are cut. However, I really would like to emphasize extreme definition like I have on my abs. I am currently applying Lipoderm-Y and taking 20mg of Nolva a day in order to combat estro. fat.

What other ideas do you think I can implement to get them even more shredded ??? ... Freaky shredded Like the pros have....
