im on a cutting diet, day 1 is high carb then days 2-4 low carb, then back to start. on high carb day im meant to have 150g sweet potato with my 3 of my meals....but i cant stand it does anyone know any alternatives that would provide the same?

Sweet potatoes are awesome, low in GI scale, but i know what you mean the taste can get to to you after a while.

Oats are perfect, on high carbs i will mix them into a smoothy with protein powder and fruit, taste awesome, sensiable amount of calories.

I keep away from bread, all types, it just bloats me out. but thats just me.

My fav is brown rice, i know sounds and tastes bland, but i will mix it up with spicy chicken, self made, tastes great and you just feel so healthy and full after. A pumped full.

High carb days are awesome, sometimes i have a 2 meal blow out, chicken shish kabab or indian, still high protein but way to many colaries, i wake the next day i feel awesome and haven't put on any bodyfat.

Check out Chefwides sticky at the top of this forum for some good complex carb suggestions, and just to reiterate:

hulled barley
groats
steel cut oats
wheatberries
bulgur wheat
wild rice
brown rice

cook a pot of EACH. get three or four 'flavor mixtures' together: fresh ginger purree and lemongrass, red curry and frozen lime juice, chopped scallions and chopped green olives, dried orange peel and salsa verde, etc...

so just with what i listed here, you have six EXCELLENT complex carb sources, and four flavor combinations... how many different permutations of carb dishes can you come up with with 10 variables? enough to keep you interested for a few months? ;)

do your fit day breakdowns on each, portion them into ziplock bags according to your 150 carb limit, freeze them. you now have about a bazillion different carb dishes to reach into the freezer and grab at will...

what could i use brown rice as an alternative to? the guy i got the diet off is a fighter and he said for me to cut out the high carb day cos its only for his training really.

now im doing

75mg porridge oats (NEED an alternative to this cos i cant bear it...ANY IDEAS?)

THEN

150g cottage cheese with 3 ryvita

THEN

200g chicken breast w/150 g broccoli

THEN

200g chicken breast w/150g sweet potato

THEN

200g salmon w/150g broccoli

protein shakes throughout the day also and udos oil and ephedrine and caffeine

i eat the same every day

this ok for cutting then? any alternatives to oats??
