esteveze

New member
I eat 1/2cup in the morning, and 1/2 cup in the afternoon.
I buy the 1%milkfat and low sodium.
here are the facts
Serving 1/2 cup
cal 90
cal fat 10
total fat 1
carb 3
sugars 3
prot 16.
Is this ok?? or should I take it out of my diet??

I have read some posts on here where they say to eat cottage cheese and from what it looks like, it's a good source of protein....BUT - I have heard many, many times, that the "cellulite look-alike" is bad for cellulite.....so, since I don't care to have "cottage cheese" thighs, I personally, stay away from the stuff.....

I wouldn't eat too much of it.

I don't get the deal with dairy. Low fat cottage cheese should be just fine in your diet. I think people get down on it because of the lactose...sugars present in all dairy products. We all know the evils of sugars. But as you listed, there is really fairly minimal sugar in a serving of the cottage cheese you are using. I eat 1-2 servings of it a day and have had no problems with it in my diet, even when trying to lose fat.

Cottage cheese is a great food.

Each and every dairy food needs to be assessed on it own merits with regard to your nutrition needs. Most bodybuilders eat lots of whey protein and never question that it's a dairy product!! Many folks on keto diets eat full cream, high fat cheeses. Almost everyone cuts out all dairy (including whey) in their last week pre-comp, but that's an extreme sitch.

casien (sp?) protein is probably the best slow-absorbing protein around... as MS said, unless you are contest cutting...

on heavy leg days i eat about half a cup before bed (and if i wake up in the middle of the night i'll have a couple more spoonfuls...)

Don't even get me started.........

I eat about 6 pounds of Breakstones 2% a week. Great protein source. Get the stuff for $4.50 per 3 lb container at BJ's.

Cottage cheese is an awesome protein source!!!!

Two of my favorite meals:

1. 1.5-2 cups of cottage cheese on a baked/microwaved potato with a vege.

2. 3/4-1 cup cottage cheese in a blender with ~50-60 grams of whey protein, 2-4 tablespoons of Natty P.B., and water with ice. Sounds disgusting, but I usually drink this every night before bed. The cottage cheese is totally hidden from the taste of the protein powder and P.B.! I usually have a teaspoon or 2 of a fiber drink after this meal as well. I use vanilla EAS "Simply Whey" as my protein source at this time.

I usually just buy it as nonfat and just add my own fats if I am lacking in the dept. I've looked for low Na+ but have had no luck in finding any where I live.

I eat cottage cheese w/ a little bit of sweetnlow.....mmmm good source of protein..no need to take it out.

I am not a HUGE fan of the taste of cottage cheese but eat about 1/2-1 c. a day...I found a new way to eat it...I add 1/4-1/2 c. to my cooked oatmeal w/stevia and a little cinnamon and a few raisins...it's really good.:D

That is exactly what I did this morning for breakfast.
Oatmeal with little cinnamon, 1/2 cup of nonfat milk, 1/2 cup water and little equal. Its was delicious.:p
The cottage cheese ate separate. It was after that I thought of mixing everything together.
I will try tomorrow.
