Cheap protein sources...

I remember there was a post awhile back about cheap protein sources...

Yes, I know that tuna is the cheapest. But I was looking for the entire list. I can't find it. I'm trying to get to 250g of protein a day, but also don't want to break the bank doing it.

Right now, the plan would be to drink 50g of shakes, 3 cans, 10oz of hamburger meat, and any suggestion that the group might have...

Frozen bags of chicken breasts from Costco come out to be cheap and its like 50-60g of protein per breast.

They also have canned tuna which has 50 grams per can.

yes costco chicken breasts are best, dont forget about eggs whites. buy them by the flat at the flea market and prepare them a few days in advance into a large sealable container and just pour some out when you wanna make a quick omlete, and the tuna and shredded chicken breast and poof 70-90 grams of protein in one sitting!

70-90 grams of protein in one serving is kinda steep. id spread it out over the day when your body needs it more, also your body cant really do anything with that much at once.

dont overlook black beans either:

26 g protein a can for 99 cents

Extra-light cheese is a big one for me... can't remember off the top of my head what sort of protein content it is but it costs me $5 AUS for 500g and it's about 35% protein or something. Not great but something to have instead of eggs and fish.

Yeah, reduce your servings to 40-50 grams several times a day(6-8) is ALOT better. Also, if you are serious about growth, DO NOT eat Black Beans, focus on Tuna, Eggs & Whole Chicken because they are CHEAP!!!

Do you have decent sized freezer?

Hit the yellow pages for bakery supply wholesalers. Buy a case of bulk frozen eggwhites, the real thing, it two quart containers, already to pour and cook.

Cheaper than topsoil and pure egg protein. No cheaper way in the world.

Call them, ask if they have it, when you get there, have CASH. If they ask to make you an invoice, or give you any grief at all about not being 'to the public', which they never do, you can say that your sister is a caterer and needs the stuff so she sent you over.

tellin ya. its the thing.

Chef's right! Egg Protein is the CHEAPEST and one of the best sources of protein around. I bought 15 dozen eggs from Sam's for $12.55. That works out to be 6 cents an egg. 11 egg whites plus 1 whole egg is 45 grams of Protein and only 5 grams of Fat for only .72 cents!! It just doesn't get any cheaper than that. Oh! 2 scoops of All The Whey Protein powder is .42 cents, but that's protein powder. Still is a good deal, though! As you can see, I have been studying up on this for a while. :)

Try a Crunchy Shrimp Roll = 650 calories, 83g carbs, 36.8g protein
I can eat 2-3 rolls in a meal no problem.

Personally I prefer just sushi or nigiri,
A bite size piece of Salmon = 64 calories, 12g carbs 2.6g protein
Tuna = = 62 calories, 12g carbs 3.1g protein
And a single Nigiri Shrimp = 89 calories, 12g carbs and 8.2 grams of protein!

I can eat 30+ Shrimp for lunch, that’s a whooping 246g of protein for about 2600 calories, and Yes You Feel IT!

Not only is sushi full of protein and low in fat, but it also contains B-vitamins, minerals like selenium, and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Oh, you said cheap?
Tip: become the personal trainer for a sushi chef ;) ;) ;) ;)
