"So for those that are interested. Here is the lowdown...
"I will get right to the point. You mentioned in your letter that you are pretty sure that I get this question about a billion and one times. I do. Per week.
"I could write a book on why most guys will never become porn actors, but I don't have the time and I would have to write it a billion and one times a week anyway.
"But since you sounded like you possessed common sense when you mentioned that you were pretty sure that I get this question a lot, I figured I would make an exception and actually respond to your email.
"Like I said before, most guys will never get to be a porn stud. There are a million reasons why they wont, but I will start with the most obvious reason: porn producers aren't looking for new guys. It is a supply and demand sort of thing. The producer needs male talent, they go to proven names. The reason is money. Of all the things you spend money on doing a porn, paying male talent is one of your lowest costs. The women, the crew, the equiptment rentals, the sets and locations, all cost more than the male talent. And ironically, the male talent is the least reliable thing on the set. Porn stud can't get hard, for whatever reason, you still have to pay for everything else.
"Now I know what you are saying: it would never happen to you. You are 100% pure stud, all man, super male. I can't tell you how many sets that I have been on where I got to see some new guy have his First Experience Not Being Able to Get Hard. Getting hard in front of a bunch of onlookers who are waiting on you is tough. And you will not get much support from the girl you are working with either. Your not getting it hard or keeping it hard is cutting into her work day and chances are, unless she is a big name like Jenna Jameson, she has booked at least one other shoot today, and is already running late for that one.
"You hit on something else in your letter. Average. You ask how an average guy goes about getting in. Average guys don't. All the male talent in the biz are freaks. You might as well be asking how a relatively normal guy goes about getting a job working in the circus freak show.
"You have been told you fuck well. Great. Means relatively little on the set. Got a big dick. Count your lucky stars; the guys in porn with dicks that look big are usually short guys. They also shave their dick and balls to make it look bigger for the camera. It is perspective. Smallish girl, smallish guy, above average dick looks huge. Same scene except with a normal size or big guy: the illusion in blown.
"But back to the hard on thing again. The reason the guys in porn get to do the thing they do isn't because they are good at fucking, it is because they are good at jacking off.
"Your job as a porn actor is to get yourself hard and keep it that way so that when the camera is ready for you, you can go. You then have to keep it hard, until the director tells you otherwise. Often that can mean 30 to 40 minutes stopping and starting to change camera setups, etc. Cum too early and you screw up the scene. The director needs X amount of footage of each of the different positions, hardcore stills in between each position, softcore coverage for the hotel and Playboy versions, cable version, Internet version, DVD supplementals, etc. And once he has what he needs, he wants to wrap things up. So you better be able to deliver the money shot when he asks for it, or at least within a minute or so. Time is money.
"Still want to try and get in? Here are your best opportunities:
"1. Solo jack off vids and gay video. You would be surprised to find out how many of the guys in straight porn have worked in gay vids. The fact is that you are there to do a job. Not get your nut. Not satisfy a girl. Not for romance. You are hired to get your dick hard, pump a hole, cum on cue. The director hires you to bang some chick and she ain't your type, too bad. "But the best shot you got to get in is [if you have a] girlfriend.
"A good deal of the guys in the biz rode in on the coattails of their significant other. The porn industry is always looking for new girls willing to fuck on film. If one of her conditions for agreeing to work for some producer is that she only fucks her boyfriend (you) in boy girl scenes, then the producer will hire you on. Of course, he is taking a big chance and he will want to pay you both less than if she would agree to work with an established porn dude, but that is part of paying your dues.
"That is the briefest I can make this.
