Will low carbs on a cycle allow muscle growth

I was wondering if doing something simmilar to a TKD with a calorie surplus would work for gaining muscle. Where carbs were based only around working out, preworkout and PostWO shake and meal. Would this allow for muscle growth even though there is an obvious lack of insulin for most of the day, and if so, would this allow for leaning out at the same time.

Does insulin need to be present for muscles to grow, on or off a cycle?

The muscle growth would be minimal, if any. I'd suggest if you do go w/ a TKD, then you need at least a 1-2 day refeed for every 3 days of TKD (assuming before and after workout carbs).

As a side note, I would suggest you go with at least 30%carbs in your diet when spending money on a cycle.

Well,
I actually did a low carb diet while on a tren/prop/winny cycle and gained 15lbs of bloat free muscle. I lost 5 during pct, so a net gain of 10 isn't bad. I carbed up over the weekends and kept it about 80g a day during the week. So it is possible IMO.

Not buyin the old school line on Carbs & Muscle growth...

I've heard the same old story, if you don't include carbs in your diet you can't grow muscle. I call "bullshit"...

My last cycle was done on a near "Atkins" diet of almost no carbs at all along with massive amounts of protein in the form of meat, seafood, & eggs. And I gained 15 fat free bloat free pounds. 12 of which I kept after the cycle was over. Maybe being a lean hard gainer makes a difference, but all I know is that it works for me.

I'd be really interested in hearing the results from others that have "actually tried" a low carb or no carb diet during a cycle. Because it seems that most people trumpeting the absolute need for carbs are the one's that have never tried it.

I was thinking allong the lines of about 200 carbs, but only focused around the workout. Its not really low carb, but durring the rest of the day the carbs would be close to zero. Would this work?

Houseofpain, did you lose any fat?

Oh hell yeah I lost fat. Even though I started out pretty lean already, I'm 40 so I had that telltale little band fat around my lower midsection obscuring the bottom 2 abs out of my six pack that was impossible to get rid of.

Prior to my experimentation with Atkins diet plan, high intensity workouts, higher test from cycling, and a low fat diet would only get me so far and wouldn't touch the problem areas. But the low carb diet, increased test from cycling, and frequent high intensity workouts made my problem areas for fat melt away.

Another advantage I found was that when I was on the Atkins style diet, my body was burning fat for energy which happens at a much slower and more even rate than when you're using Carbs for energy. When your body is burning carbs, you end up on this roller coaster cycle of energy peaks and crashes because the body burns carbs at a much faster rate and doesn't regulate it's usage of them to even out your energy levels.

I plan to use the exact same regimine on my next cycle and any others after that. As long as I'm gaining 10 to 15 pounds each time, I'm going to keep doing what I know works rather than listening to those that think carbs are required for muscle growth.

I agree, you need at least SOME carbs whilst on cycle because of the energy need for intense workouts, and cals for max growth. You probably could gain lean on a low-carb diet, but minimally as X said. There is nothing wrong with eating whole wheat, oats, yams, brown rice, and other good complex carbs in a balanced diet on cycle. You will feel more energized and you gains will be much better.

besides the energy can calorie aspect of it, is the insulin required for muscles to grow. I would be taking in over 500g's of protien. if i take in more than 150 or 200 carbs i will be way over my calorie intake, I am 165 and i dont want to be taking in too much over 3200 calories. Im just trying to get the maximum protien, and minimal carbs.

the important factor is insulin, you can either eat carbs to get an insulin spike, or inject it... your choice... If you have insulin sensitivity problems and get fat gain easily... then you can just be much more selective with when you consume them, and use r-ala when appropriate.
