What's the poorest you've ever been?

Ya, as a child I was very poor.
I was actually born on a couch and not in a hospital, lol.
When I my Mom met my stepfather everything changed.
I still remember what it was like, I glad I was poor at one time.

Poor, one persons poor may be another persons rich. Anyways I wasnt dirt poor, but definately crumbing it for a family of 5. Parents never claimed welfare or ANY assistance. With that said I recall many bailouts by both sets of Grandparents to save them from complete disaster.

Taught me a lot of things about life living in a dysfunctional low income environment growing up. Would never have changed it. Well I would change one thing which has nothing to do with money.

I grew up with My dad making a ton of money. Then when he left my mom when I was 13, he also decided to do the happiness over money thing, respectfully and change his career slightly. He was definitely still making plenty for us to be comfortable though.

Once I started college though my parents did the whole "youre kicked out of the nest, time to fly" thing, I was all on my own. Luckily I paid for everything on scholarship including rent and all my bills so the money I made from my part time job paid for any extra stuff.

I wasn't poor til I graduated and found a job, got a place, then had to leave it and was screwed. It was only about a month-long period, but I was sleeping at different people's houses and eating like a bird.

When I was in elementary school, my mother used to take my sister and me to Grant's (a K-mart, but lower-end) because kids could eat free. We'd always have a sit-down meal at home for dinner (eating out is what rich people do) but during the day we scrounged meals where we could.
