Teenage girl looking for some answers

Helllo!! I haven't been here since my last post, I'm sorry about that. School and stuff. ;)

I am not on any diets of any kind as of this moment. Right now I've been eating freely, and taking in 100% whey protein chocolate shakes... theyre about 150 calories and 5 gram carbs per scoop.

My question is do any of you have any sort of regimen I can follow? I eat crap! My body isn't exactly how I want it... I weigh in as 132 pounds, at a height of 5'7, with very little muscle gain.

One thing i know for sure is I don't have a 24" waist like I could. Honestly it feels like the only way I can lose this fat is by going starvation level of carbohydrates... maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, so please help me if you do! :(

Re: 16 year old girl looking for some answers

No. No, no, no. You need carbs. You need fruit. Healthy carb choices like fruit and VEGGIES***, complex carbs- oatmeal, yams, sweet tats, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, bread (Nothing too commercial, they use additives you can't pronounce) and better yet, simply STOP consuming foods which contain ingredients you can't pronounce on the label. The protein shakes are supplements, protein you supplement with when you either need a meal replacement or more often after a weight training/lifting workout. A clean diet (not one in which you cut any particular food group out) is probably 90% of your fatloss. The remaining 10% will be weights + cardio. Weights for muscle gain, and cardio for health as well as a fatloss aid. No drugs. Eat your dairy- if you read recent articles you will find that calcium is a wonderous aid in fatloss. You and I are both 16, and this is a bit of accumulation of my knowledge. Dairy- Nonfat cottage cheese (I use 1% no salt added), plain yogurt, no added sugar yogurt, lowfat cheese, farmer cheese (I use nonfat, also up to you), skim milk, unsweetened soy milk. Continue with shakes once you begin an exercise regime, which will aid your goal 100%. I don't know much info about you, therefore it's difficult for me to create an exercise regime for you. However, most of the people on this board will do so in a very short period of time if you just post up your daily diet, school schedule, body fat if you know it, and how often/intense you can train. That's about it! And remember, (this is exactly as i've been told...also being 16) never cut a food group out for any reason. You're 16, you're still an adolescent, you're still growing, and you need all the nutrients you can get! :) :) :)

Re: 16 year old girl looking for some answers

hey Waka you should take a look at my '05 journal. I'm 18 years old, same weight as you, and probably have about the same goals. I'm in college now, drug free (as far as diet pills go), and dont have a huge healthy food selection. I dont know if its the same for you, but when I was in high school, my mom would always get so questiony and annoying whenever I tried to start dieting. The foods I eat now are real easy to get and I'm not going crazy with cravings and stuff so I'd say its workin out for me.

What I've learned from the ladies on this board is that you're really gonna hafta experiment and find out what works for you as far as 1) getting the results you want, and 2) keeping you satisfied.

I also recommend that you check out fitday.com
Its an awesome site and it really helps to keep track of your diet.

Best of luck to ya

This is a very unhealthy way to think.... stop it!! LOL

At your age there is no reason to cut out any type of food group!! Well, except McDonalds.....LOL You are not done growing yet, as said before, so you can be more "free" with your diet.... and don't think of it as a "diet" -- it's the way you eat every day -- you can call that "diet" if you want or food plan, etc......

I also recommend www.fitday.com -- it's a good site & free.....

Keep your foods "clean" and basic -- fruits, veggies, protein, whole grains, etc..... limit your junk.....

It's true, the negative way you percieve yourself today will follow you through to adulthood if you don't change your mind set.

Perfect example.. i have an identical twin.. she thought like you when she was younger and here we are both at 29, basicalyl the same size, but she always thinks she is fat.

Find things about your body you like and play them up and work on the ones you think you can change. Baby steps... Don't make goals you are not able to attain
