Summer Season Begins!

Thanks to all of your great adice and encouragement I am beginning my summer journal. Hard to atually put in writing for fear of failure(!) That is my usual fear. So my training and diet will be listed as of 3/31/06/ Next week I am on vacation but will try to stick to some what of a plan.
Stats:
41 yrs old, weight app 114 - won't get on the scale because A - I am not competing, and B even when it read 89 pounds I thought I could do better! A.m.training is for cardio, I either run or walk, when I walk I wear my X vest - a 20 pound weighted vest and I carry 4 lb dumbells. I like to weight train between 2 and 6 in the after noon. Diet will be solid food - nothing drastic either way - not 100%raw, not chemicals but solid food until I freak out and decide to change that too!
Any advice and tips are more than appreciated!

Hey...read my three journals that have been started over and over again! Its for you and that is all...if people read it they read it...but do it for you!! hey I see you could be in the over 39 group too!! Good luck

I'll reach the 40 mark soon enough! 'Fear of failure' - why? Failure can be defined as quitting - and you haven't quit. You're doing great, focusing on long-term health and wellness. You won't be one of the ones worrying about a wheelchair at 50! Welcome!

WL,
Thabks for the inspiration! It really does help! I have officially ende my eating disorder as of today! That's right - it is over! No more bizarre eating plans - I am done. And believe me it is tempting to try one more shot at a raw diet etc but I have to stop! I am about to go for my morning run and then start my day - focusing on anything BUT food! Here goes!

Hope the run goes well.
Just remember how you feel now. Journaling will help your remind yourself on those days when you don't feel like doing this as a way of life... Why you started to begin with. You can always go back and look over all of what you have previously written and then you can help keep yourself moving in the right direction. That's why it is important to journal on good and bad days so you can identify your up and down pattersn and maybe help you identify what the causes are.

Excellent response Trellin! Run was great - a little short due to obligations but the weather was gorgeous - 34 degrees! I am supposed to do a chest work out later but the sun is finally shining after 6 months of darkness and I would love to put my Xvest on and grab my dumbells and walk the hills. My stomach is killing me - long story and walking usually helps. I may indulge!
Due to my stomach diet has been screwy! I swear I am not on a diet and I have freed myself of the stupid eating disorder forever - I am repeating that every day from now on. So far today I have eaten 1/2 apple, and 2 grapefruit - not ideal but it is what I want and I HAVE to lose the restrictions for now!

Now, if you have a day or so that you 'fall back' (and we all do), YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FEEL GUILTY. You wouldn't rag on one of your children if they fell off that new bike when they were first learning to ride. Don't rag on yourself. You'd encourage them. Encourage yourself - look at what you've done right and get back on that bike! The only permanent failure is giving up.

You're going to do great! :rainbow:

Great advice and man - did I fall yesterday - back on track for summer - Mothers day is 7 weeks from now so here is my present to me!
Nice run today and now on my way to the gym with awesome DH for a chest work out. I had anempowering thought today and that was - If I can go with out alcohol - which I have for the past month, I can discipline myself in other areas as well. - That gave me the motivation to run and have a protein shake when I returned home. Off to the gym - will write more later!
This has been a great day! Had a pretty good work out - always could be better(!) Did chest and shoulders - somehow my abs are visible - definately a present from God! Ran into a friend I have not seen in ages and it was like a punch in the gut - she has lost 20 pounds and looks great! She used to come to me for diet advice and then went to a weight loss center - paid $2,000.and now I am asking her what to do! - Not like there is any big secret - don't eat junk and don't eat more than you need and you will be lean. My problem is this raw dieting had me so brainwashed. I am now ready to be more realistic and eat better. A favorite lunch - and breakfast was to eat a zillion cucumbers - the after effects were just wonderful!
so nutrition for today has been.....
protein shake after my run and another one after weight training. - Did not plan for this but it was the best choice available at the time. Whil shopping with my daughter I had 1/2cup of fiber one cereal because I got light headed. Went to grocery shop for dinner - this is usually a huge blow it for me - I ate one cucumber - not bad seeing that I usually devour the entire grape display while I choose which color to buy!
Dinner will be boneless skiless chicken cooked in mushrooms, onions and broccolli, and a huge salad. Dessert is black berries - fresh with a bit of sugar free fat free cool whip -- this is in place of my usual 48 bowls of air popped pop corn! I will clean the house - again(!) and watch the Sopranos! Looking forward to tomorrow already!!

Failure? That only happens if, when you fall, you quit trying to get back up.

"Obstacles" are either Stumbling blocks or Stepping stones. The best part is that WE get to choose which one they become. :arty:

Everyone falls off the wagon so as long as you remember to look for loose change while you're down there and then take a deep breath and get back up. There's usually several EF angel arms extended when you do.
