First off the only stupid question are those that go unasked ( a simple search will tell you if its been asked before). As for squat being the king of movements I must disagree. Its great but for overall development(CNS and muscle) moving weight is the key and that is where deads shine.

Your leg strentgh should even out eventualy,it's not necessaraly just your one leg that is week it could be a number of assisting muscles on you weak side. Be concious of this, try and strengthen all major secondary muscle groups involved in the squat
 
It could be dangerous when adding more weight, just feel it out and make sure you have a spotter for heavy weight
