Should I go Back on low carb/CKD?

I'm currently doing a 30/30/40 F/P/C split but I'm finding that its doing absolutely nothing for me.

In fact, if anything I've put on a couple pounds. I don't know if its just a lack of being able pick the right sources of carbs (fats are coming from chicken, etc) or what, but I almost feel naked on this thing.

Should I revert back to more of a 50/30/20 F/P/C? I mean hell, it took me from 300lbs to 195 (I'm now back to 225 :o ) and I was pretty healthy although I couldn't put on muscle to save my life (but I didn't put much effort into it).

I would suggest going back to the 50/30/20 (low-carb) diet , with weekly refeeds (once a week). Since it worked for you before and you took a break, this would be a good time to get back on the diet.

How can I go about preserving a little more muscle than I did before? The main reason I changed my diet (besides the fact that after doing it for 2 years I was ready for a change) was because even at 195 I felt like I had another 20 or 30lbs to lose before BF was low enough to start bulking. I wasn't weak but I felt like I had lost to much muscle. Again, "felt like".

At any rate, I'm starting it back today. I didn't lose 100lbs to end up a fatass again. I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow with some friends for a few days and I'm hoping the Buffet's are low carb friendly :p

A few things you can to too help muscle harmony while dieting: The first would be to add carbs before your workout and after your workout, for example drink 20g protein/20g dextrose before the workout and 40g protein/30g dextrose post workout, then 1 1/2 hrs later have a nice meal w/ a steak and sweet potatoes. This will allow for the maximum anabolic effect (anabolism) post workout, allowing for some degree of recovery even while dieting. Also, I would suggest adding Glucorell-R (rala) after your workout w/ the pw shake, this should also help the anabolism.

In addition, you should look at HIT training with low-reps/heavy weight and lower volume. For example, dumbell press of 2 sets of 4 reps, bench press of 2 sets of 4 reps each, with the heaviest weight you can do 4 reps with.

I think the main problem when I tried this before was that my workouts weren't intense enough. I try to take rala with every meal that I eat that contains any carbs other than green veggies. Hopefully I'll do better this time around.
