Post-Workout - Changing theories???

Well first off Taking in High GI carbs with protein and complex carbs will cause the GI index to drop a lot depending on what exactly you are doing.

I feel the best thing and my trainer agree's as well. Immediately following your workout I have 75 gms of Cell -Tech, followed by my post workout shake which consists of 50gms Isopure protein, 130gms Maltodextrin, 2 tbs flax oil, 2tbs glutamine, mixed with water...You WILL grow from that. Then an hour later a low fat meal like Sushi. Youll have to adjust your requirments I wiegh

Give that a try for 1 month I garantee you will put on wieght.
Have some red for #1 an ignorant post, and #2 STATING your fake ass internet facts without a picture to support...........214lbs @ 5-6 % BF, 5'9..lol....cell tech huh? You and Cutler both...........then I love the flax seed mixing with insulin spike............get a grip...........

Since i ran out of dextrose and been too lazy to pick up some more, I've been doing 60g of whey with a few tablespoons of honey and a banana.
not ideal bro, lose the honey and fructose PW isnt optimal........

From all the studies I've read and my own experience a good post workout shake or meal will consist of a 3:1 carb to protein ratio, with the carbs being a high GI carb.

That's gotta be the stupidest idea ever! :newbie:

I agree, no flax post-workout because it will slow down absorption and drop the GI of the meal/drink. I've always thought cell-tech was a little silly too, but I will stay off my rant for that :-)
Also, a banana has a lot of fructose-which does not spike insulin, so if you are looking for a spike, its not a good choice. It's fine otherwise though.

Actually Cell-Tech is perfect with whey protein. It's just dextrose, creatine, and ALA.

Yeah, and it's really expensive too. I'd rather get dextrose at $2 a pound.

Guys, fruit doesn't only consist of fructose. There's other carbohydrates too, so a banana isn't a terrible choice, though maltodextrin and dextrose are obviously better. ie: out of the 51g of carbs a banana has, only 20% are fructose.

According to the USDA health database, a large (8"-8 7/8" long) banana has 121 kcal, 31g carbs, including 3.5g fiber. :chomp:
