Post-Workout - Changing theories???

On or even off AAS, what is your post-meal/shake choice? I'm thinking of making the switch for high gi (dex) to semi-high gi (rice cakes) and want to know if anyone has had any solid results...........50g of whey with 2-3 rice cakes sound adequate? Will it function the same?

Are you wanting to replace the dextrose with rice cakes? I use whey and dex myself, which is a pretty typical protocol. The GI on rice cakes is high anyway, so as long as you get the same amount of carbs, your results should be similar. Dextose is probably absorbed a little faster though. And if you put peanut butter on your rice cakes (which is one of the only ways I could get them down), the GI drops like a brick.

Since i ran out of dextrose and been too lazy to pick up some more, I've been doing 60g of whey with a few tablespoons of honey and a banana.

The point of the post workout shake is to get the nutrients in asap. With that in mind, dextrose is the best source, next to Vitargo, which is actually quicker than dextrose. Vitargo is great because it doesn't cause any bloat, like dextrose. I'd stick with dextrose and whey.

I dont likethe feeling after dex..........used it forever

wanted to know if anyone uses rice cakes...........

Well first off Taking in High GI carbs with protein and complex carbs will cause the GI index to drop a lot depending on what exactly you are doing.

I feel the best thing and my trainer agree's as well. Immediately following your workout I have 75 gms of Cell -Tech, followed by my post workout shake which consists of 50gms Isopure protein, 130gms Maltodextrin, 2 tbs flax oil, 2tbs glutamine, mixed with water...You WILL grow from that. Then an hour later a low fat meal like Sushi. Youll have to adjust your requirments I wiegh 214lbs @ 5-6 % BF, 5'9

Give that a try for 1 month I garantee you will put on wieght.

I see nothing wrong with using the rice cakes. I believe the GI on them is 98 or 99 (dex is 100). I think they are like 100 calories each, so you will probably want to eat several.

It's not optimum, but you can do it. If the dextrose bloats you try the Vitargo bro.

This is dead wrong! You don't want to have any fat in your post workout meal, especially when taking in dextrose, which is what cell tech is. This will spike your insulin and at the same time shuttle those fatty acids to your fat cells. Not a good idea...
