How do you go about getting back on track?? I find myself still eating crap - I do pretty well at times - but keep reverting back crap.

I seem to be outta control........guess I need to start a new log....

Honestly....its one reason why I thought it would be beneficial to do another show

How do I then obtain the motivation to do so? I can't get up the motivation to get back on a diet.....

Its all about first what is "most important to you" and second "what your body allows you to do". Just like your article said - takes 8 weeks to recover fully from a 12 week diet. The pros my trainer works with easily require 3 months just to stop being little bitches about it all -- I mean that just in an honest way -- its a huge amount of stress -- and you're just doign it for fun right now. The people I'm referring to do this for a living (i.e. to pay the mortgage). No stress there huh? Depression? Eating shit? Lack of control or motivation? etc etc etc. Happens to everyone - physiologically, mentally & emotionally.

The one thing that keeps it in perspective is the knowledge that there are lots of shows. There's always a show to do, so if you choose to do one now or not is almost a non-issue. It certainly isnt' reason to beat yourself up for it. It is still ultimately up to you to find the motivation & purpose in doign a show. I look at both Frisky & Miss24K -- they both took on their first figure shows and pursued a few more for good measure. They came out not with just the purpose of doing another show, but rather have moved on to the next level after experiencing what is involved w/ that type of competition and identified specific goals to improve themselves on a larger time scale.

Me - honestly even doign my first figure show wasn't enough motivation & reason to hold to the diet & training. I had the bad scheduling that left me w/ a 3 month gap between the show I trained for 6 months for and the next one. If you're supposed to give yourself 8 weeks to recover from a 12 week diet, wtf are you supposed to do if you have to start it all over again for another 12 weeks??? I just lost interest and had a hard time pullign out of the doldrums of the first post -show rebound. I'm actually experiencing a bit of "post-non-show rebound" right now. I did everythign except the last 2 weeks of prep after the 12 weeks of dieting & training and I'm just not "in the zone" yet.

I also have a monumentally new & exciting job w/ a company that is in the industry and interestingly I don't even find beign surrounded by peopel prepping for the biggest PRO QUALIFIER in the country to be motivating. I just don't have enough time in my day to get enough sleep, prepare food and even get to the part about doign cardio & training. But its catching up w/ me as well. I'm tired of eating shit food & my lower back is starting to show the lack of exercise. I'm looking forward to fallign into a structured schedule where diet, am cardio & training are just part of the business of the day.

I guess that's when you are ready to find the motivation again. I certainly had no luck trying to force it. When you are ready, it comes.

:)

(deep stuff, huh?)

Yep Sass - pretty deep!

I need to stop cuz I'm feeling like the guy who did Super Size Me physically. I'm still bloated - and it hurts! I think I've given myself sugar coma-itis! LOL

But I'm disgusted with myself so I'm going to start a new log tomorrow to keep myself accountable. I have a nutrition plan to follow as well.

I've got a new workout plan that I'm excited to start tomorrow. And the promotor of my show sent me a nice email wanting me to do his show in July 2006 then insisting I do the Nor'Easter again to keep my title. So I'm a lil excited about next year's show schedule as it's looking like I'll have 1 show a month - starting in June.

Well plan accordingly but also leave room to enjoy life & set & achieve goals other than competition because it is actually a very miniscule part of life. I do know what you are talking about w/ the bloat - when you feel like your legs are water balloons that have been overfilled to the point of bursting it is nasty. But give it a few days & it passes. Don't jump all over yourself if you aren' treally ready to start dieting again. Just keep it clean & throw out all that damn on-sale-what-an-amazing-deal-2-for-one-bags-of-halloween-candy. And then it all falls back into place. :)

Are you rooting thru my pantry again?? LOL

But yes - I will leave room. Example - hubby's birthday is next Friday - "treat nite" will be out to eat. Eat out then done - no leftovers no 2for1 BIG Bags.

And Yes, my feet and ankles are killing me!!

Setting a date and knowing that you will have to be in front of a bunch of strangers in a bikini IS the motivaton I think...you have to have a sense of urgency

You put a lot of effort in the preparation for your shows, well done!
and the body feels all the pressure coming from strict dieting, workouts and even the competitions.
You are bloated because of how you ate and rest after the show, imagine having been under stress everything it comes handy the body absorbs quick! It happened to me last year.
I don't know if you have a post show diet, but basically you need to reincorporate in steps what you were taking off at first. So it would be, gradually adding carbs, sodium, etc.
As difficult as it may seem, stop thinking about the rebound and being bloated, and focus on your goals. Maybe take a couple of days off the gym and relax! yes you need to relax too post show.
Focus on following your diet and in no time you'll have bloat no more.

First you must have needed a small break.....now you just have to set some new goals and begin...throw out the sugar and up your water for a bit!
