No, I don't use any cables. I just stick to basic exercises (flat bench, incline bench, flat DB presses, incline DB presses and hammer strength incline machine) I don't do all these exercises per workout, but that's the pool of exercises I pick from on chest days. Most often I flat bench, just hard to get away from that exercise :-)

I hit shrugs regularly and I upright row all the time, that makes my traps burn. I'm thinking of adding deadlifts to my back routine to help with the traps too.

Nope not really, just basic exercises, squat, machine hack squat, leg presses and leg extensions.

I ran cross-country when I was very young and always played running sports through HS and college (i.e. soccer, lacrosse, tennis) so I think that helped with leg development early on. My problem is getting bulk, I have nice cuts but overall, at 5'10", they look lean. Like I said they're my biggest priority right now, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond in the next year.

wow, I posted that first pic july 2001, didn't realize I've been hangin' around here for that long.

here are pics in mid-cycle, bulking. this is my first cycle. These were taken on 5-10-03 during week 8. Current stats are 212-215 lbs. haven't done my body fat yet, will do it at end of cycle, it's up there though probably about 13%.

this first pic is a comparision pose to one of the previous. I think it looks like I'm smaller here than previous. probably becasue my waist is about 4 inches bigger here. It also looks like I have some gyno, but I think it's just all the fat/water I'm holding, as I don't have any other indications of this.

1 thing that's noticeable is bigger traps, something I thought I was weak on before....although not noticeable in the pic my arms are much bigger now.

although not very apparent in the pics... my legs are noticably bigger than before. I can't even come close to fitting into my older pants....
 
rear lat spread

this would look alot better if I had my 30 inch waist back. I'm up to a 34 waist here, but my jacket size got bumped to a 48 from a 44..... width on my back isn't a problem, it's the density....notice the bigger traps though :-)
 
back double - bi

maybe I just don't know how to hit this shot.... I have absolutely no definition/size in my back here. Any suggestions on how to build a killer back. I do bent-over rows, lat pulldowns, rows on hammer strengths, deadlifts. I need bulging back muscles here, depth/density/thickness not spread at this point.

that's that.... any feedback, good bad, constructive criticism welcome. I was thinking that I would try to maintain this weight or a bit heavier (around 215-220lbs) through the summer and then bulk again during the winter to try to get up to 230, but I think I really look pretty fat, and with summer coming I'm thinking that once this cycle is done I'll try to slim down and get to 8-10%. It's just so hard for me to gain weight that I'd hate to give it all up. what do guys/gals think? bulk again and then cut or cut up now?
 
Well, I think you look great in all the picks first off. To be honest, i'm having a hard time seeing the added size, but like you said, your waist is bigger. The abs are a little less visible, so i think your body fat is up a bit. Your delts do look bigger and rounder.

added size

the added size is defintely there, I'm tipping the scales at a consistent 215lbs, 20lbs heavier than those first picks. I've also kept track of all my measurements through-out, so it'll be interesting to see when I get them done again post-cycle. The camera doesn't always show the truth I've learned and some of the shots are deceptive. I'm sure when I get my measurements done they'll show a big improvement in my arm girth, it's very noticeable to me and everybody else around me (lots of "holy shit, look at the size of your arms" comments) they're still only around 16" though. I think the added inches in the waist really hurts the overall appearance.

I notice a lot of my weight gain comes at my waist, but, and stomach, I still look pretty cut throughout my shoulders/arms/legs.

intersting comment about my shoulders. I couldn;t do shoulder workouts for a long time due to an injury, I had surgery in Sept 2002, and for the first time in quite a while I could work out shoulders hard and heavy in Jan 2003, so that's probably why my shoulders look a bit more fuller and rounder.
